GLLX 3001, MQT 2007 and GLLX 3002 haul a large turn train north through the Ramona Dip at a blistering 10mph. This was the year that we were busier than ever, G&W took over and most the railroad was slow orders. Oh the memories.
On a summer day, Singing Sands, which is part of Bruce Peninsula National Park, is essentially off limits because of the hordes of people that come up from the city. At this time of year, on a late Sunday afternoon with a cold wind, and overcast sky, we could have gone skinny dipping and there would have been few people to notice.
An Ultra Common Subject ( Black Kite ) BUT Then The Light & Backdrop Forced Me To Not To Waste The Moment & Freeze This Without Any Second Thoughts. Its So Wondrous To See These Birds Enjoying The Dips In Extreme Cold Conditions. Hope You All Will Enjoy This Handheld Shot :)
Nudist from around the world (or maybe just the United States) tried to break a world record for the number of people skinny dipping at one time yesterday. They'll find out if they broke it in about 6 weeks.
As the dragonflies flew around, always connected, the female would dip her tail into the water, i think she was implanting eggs into the water, it was amazing to see and they seem like they were'nt frightened by me one bit cause i was really close as they did there thing. Nature really is amazing!!
if i'm wrong about what these dragonflies are doing let me know, i have'nt googled dragonfly sex yet...
i know this photo is real blurry but i don't often catch moments like this so i don't really care.
Experimenting with what might become the next Double Dip camera - more tricky to mod so it might take a while before I can release it.
Meanwhile I have about 10 original Double Dip blanks waiting to be modded.
This different blank camera seems slightly less blurry in the corners, and the viewfinder is more accurate. On the down-side the double exposure mechanism isn't as simple as the pull-cord on v1.

On Saturday 7th September 1974 I should have been at work rather than attending the Swindon Works open day. In the elaborate internal jargon of the Bristol Omnibus Co., not turning up for work was known as "dipping". Failing to turn up took various forms: there was sickness, fake sickness or simply oversleeping. "Dipping" was an all-embracing term that covered all these eventualities. My intention had been to telephone the depot to say that I was unwell. Accordingly I had got up at 5am to let them know before my starting time. In those days there was no telephone in the house and I walked to the kiosk on the corner. But I couldn't get through. If you failed to let them know at least an hour in advance it became a disciplinary matter. Oh well. Another black mark to add to my tally. Such was the shortage of staff in those days that you were virtually unsackable. From time to time I would find in my "pidgeon hole" a "chitty" notifying me of an appointment with the District Traffic Superintendant. "Re: Shorts" was added in ballpoint pen under the printed information. "Shorts" was my customary offence. It meant that the takings I had paid in were less than the requisite amount. The rule was that day-to-day discrepancies were OK ...within reason... but that the total must tally by the end of the working week. However, the depot cash clerks didn't like it as it made extra work for them, and it was...
But I digress. There is something of the abbatoir or dissecting room about scenes like this. Here we see a line of cabs from scrapped Class 52 locomotives. From the camera they had belonged to: D1000 WESTERN ENTERPRISE, D1024 WESTERN HUNTSMAN, D1060 WESTERN DOMINION, D1060 again and D1000 again. Visitors were allowed to take away any components they could remove. I saw people walking away with cab doors from "Westerns" and "Warships". Back at Temple Meads that afternoon I saw a youth, holding a rev counter or speedometer, being led through a side door by a sceptical officer of the British Transport Police.
After I had got home a pal, also an employee of the Bristol Omnibus Co., called at the house. He and some mates were going to drive up to London next day to try to get around as many of the sheds as possible. Did I want to come? I had to work, I told him. They planned to get around Willesden, Old Oak, Cricklewood, Finsbury Park and Stratford. "Weeeell ...I suppose I could dip..."
Oh the memories of going to the candy store as kid when I saw my daughter try this for the first time today. Her face lit up when we told her she could eat the stick too.
i was just taking a picture of the beach. then i saw a guy emerging from the water. for a moment i thought he was in a skin-colored bathing suit. as i walked closer, i realized he was actually in his birthday suit, completely oblivious to the many people jogging on the beach.
My aunt was just about to take a dip in the water today since it has been so hot. Decided to try my hand at papparazzi but she didn't like that too much. Now it is my turn to run naked in the water.....hopefully no one else is lurking in the woods with a camera :)
Dip Falls is a fantastic waterfall with really unique rock formations. There is great interest around the place with fallen logs and great looking ferns.
When we were there in July the flow of water was quite quick and it was dangerous to get in or close to the water.
This shot shows just a small proportion of the falls.
