I love my dapping block!
The center "stone" is a sheet of red brass, dapped, sanded, and heated. The base is a thick sheet of fine silver I made by melting leftover PMC and then putting it through a rolling mill. The band is sterling silver.
It wasn't my intention to make it look like an old globe, but I'm glad it does! You can't tell in the pictures too well, but the heat patina really looks like terrain.

This is a nylon dapping block that I made for a friend of mine who works with coins and textured metals. Her metal dapping block ironed out the patterns during doming. This block will make a true half ball from a quarter coin and leave the type and George's face intact. I use it with metal or wood punches.

I used distress inks on watercolor paper, and put the candy cane stencil on top and sprayed with water, and dapped it off. I used the die cut from the first card, and die cut 5 more and glued all down. This card is also for SSSflickrchallenge#7

Runners from the Keynsham 10k Road Race, which took place on Sunday 22nd May 2011, starting at The Sports Ground next to the former Cadbury's factory, Somerdale, Keynsham.
From here, after doing laps of the field and grounds o fthe factory, they headed up to the High Street and then into Charlton Road. The runners headed out of the town and then down Redlynch Lane to the small village of Chewton Keynsham, before heading back towards Keynham.
Back in the town, the course took them down Steel Mills, over Dapps Hill bridge and into Keynsham park. Avoiding Ducks on route, the yexited the other side before then heading down Cadbury’s main drive to the finish.
And I was tired just trying to keep up with then and take photos around the course.

Wow! Did I take it to the limit this week. Watched the show on Thursday and waited until YESTERDAY to start a collection. NUTTY. But an absolute blast.
The three pieces were created using the poor-man's raising technique (am I the only one who has ever done this??). I don't have the right tools for doing raising so I improvised and used my rawhide mallet, my set of dapping punches and my little ball peen hammer. But first I patterned the metal with my rolling mill and a scrap piece of raw canvas (my favorite thing to texturize metal with). I wanted to give the metal the feeling and flow fabric. These three pieces turned out to be wonderful and lightweight!
I am thinking that they would all coordinate with any of Anya's designs!!

Summer 2026 plimsolls. I bought this pair of white lace-up plimsolls in the spring to wear over the summer. Living in the south-east of England I wore them quite a bit this year (2026)! I bought them as my standard over 22 degree C summer shoe because they are cheap, look good (I put them in the washing machine a couple of times to ensure they stayed nice and white), lightweight (360g compared with Superga ‘plimsolls’ 500g per shoe) and being canvas if you wet them as the sun evaporates the water it cools the foot inside. The sole are thin so to provide extra cushioning I bought a size larger and placed a spongy insole inside (which included in 360g).

In 15th century England, anglers didn’t use reels at all: They simply tied a braided horsehair line to the tip of a long rod. (Dapping and Tenkara operate on the same principle.) But by the 18th century, small brass “winches,” attached to the rod’s base by a spike or clamp, were being made in British toolmakers’ shops. Fly reels progressed from brass, to wood, to hard rubber and nickel silver, and then on to today’s lightweight magnesium or aluminum. Though materials changed over the years, modern reels remain strikingly similar to their early ancestors. The reels shown here are from the “Angler’s All” exhibit at the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, Vermont.
