Bridge Day is the day they shut down the highway crossing the New River Gorge bridge and have base jumpers go off the bridge. You can see the chutes of 2 jumpers in the middle of the image. On the left side of the bridge are the rappelling lines from underneath the bridge deck down the the railroad tracks below.

The weather has turned cold again but there were some amazing clouds when we took Fudge for a walk this evening.
Three months done and I've managed to take a photo every day so far this year even though life is very busy at the moment.
Hopefully I'll get time to catch up on all your images and commenting soon.
too tired to do much, but at least i made something, just using DDL indigo paint — day 2 of painting everyday in Feb
There were several lessons learned today. One is when you tell your secretary to call security, the hostile person gets quiet and leaves. The other is that there are more than one F-words. Apparently, the word "fart" can be classified as the F-word to some.
And that F-word thing made my day!
The first day of calendar spring - March 21st - is also known in Poland under the name "dzień wagarowicza", whch roughly translates to "the day of the truants". It has not been declared as an official holiday, however you won't see very many pupils roaming around at school that day, as most of them will choose freedom and enjoy the first sunny and warm days of the year outside.
Despite this, on March 21st of 2025, PolRegio still had to launch a pair of trains for schoolchildren on the route Chojnice - Tczew - Chojnice. Due to a defect suffered by one of the railbusses in the Chojnice depot, thetrains were hauled by an old SU42-509 diesel locomotive with two coaches, providing a very classic, old time-ish sight of local railways. I took this picture of the afternoon return train ROS 50785 Tczew - Chojnice as it was accelerating from the stop Bytonia on the Ostbahn.
The very few people, who had chosen to board the train on that day most likely didn't realise that the emabankment they were on marks the spot of one of many failed attempts at killing Adolf Hitler, this time on the night between the 8th and 9th of June 1942. Polish guerilla fighters attacked an overnight express train heading for Berlin, which was supposed to have the private coach of the führer on hook. Hitler himself was then returning from his famous wolf's lair in the north-east.
After the partisans had damaged the track, the train fell of the embankment, killing around 200 members of the nazi leader's private guard - the Leibstandarte SS unit. It has however later turned out, that Hitler's coach had not been attached to the train that night, due to the fact that he was surprisingly invited by Albert Forster (the guvernor of Danzig) to an afternoon party on the Marienburg castle. This way, one of the world's worst criminals has once again just barely evaded his own death.
I took this picture as a part of my friday trip around the area with Antoni , so expect some pictures from him too!

Today was "opening day" for my Iris. About a dozen bloomed today and lasted about 8 hours before rain and hail wiped them out. Fortunately I have plenty of buds left ...

Japanese Knotweed - it's an invasive species and we have been trying to get rid of it with no luck since we bought this place in 2013. Someone must have though it was lovely and planted it here. Mike cuts it down as he sees it pop up. I would love to plant wildflowers along where this grows but I fear they would just be choked out.

The wild sweet peas are blooming in the ditch on Ardoch Road. Today marks the end of the first half of 2022 - time flies.
I want to thank each and everyone for your comments and visits to my little space here on Flickr. I may not get to respond to all the comments, rest assured, I appreciate them all more than you know. Awards and invites aren't necessary.
My creative photography teacher would be so proud that I broke a rule and shot right into the sun, hand held on Bulb Mode for 1 second.
I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to visit my little space here on Flickr. Have a super day!

More heavy frost overnight but a busy day at work so only had time to grab a quick shot during my lunch break.
There was a short but spectacular sunset Monday night. Mother Nature was working, even on Labor Day.

After bad weather, luckily we could enjoy a fantastic day to climb the Elbrus' summit. We woke up at 1:00 am at Barrels Camp. After a quickly breakfast we went with a ratrac to Pastukhov rocks (4600 metres) and following we began to climb up to the summit.
The day began wonderful, the weather was absolutely perfect.
The title comes from the Beatles song of the same name. This was my ode to New York Fashion Week which was happening during my recent trip to the Big Apple. The NYC subway system is such a great marriage of an older time, modern commuters, and the grunge of the big city. A very strange intersection of the every day.
Just wishing all my American Contacts/Flickr-ers a wonderful Independence Day! Happy 4th of July!
I thought I'd contribute a video of me playign the USA's Anthem. I'm not very familiar with the anthem so I apologize if there's any wrong notes/timing.
Although, it would have been nice if some of my American contacts would have wished me a happy Canada Day on the 1st! :P!
