The Rolls-Royce RB.53 Dart was a long-lived British turboprop engine designed, built and manufactured by Rolls-Royce Limited. First produced in the late 1940s, it powered the first Vickers Viscount maiden flight in 1948. The Dart was still in production until the last F-27s and H.S 748s were produced in 1987.
Trundling along George St. in Whitehaven is an unusual visitor to the town, Marshall bodied Dart No.33169.
The building to the right with the corrugated roof is part of the former Cumberland Motor Services bodyworks and paintshop which was accessed from the narrow Wellington Row, the sign for which can also be seen.
Common goldeneyes dart around trumpeter swans as they feed, looking for crayfish that were dislodged.

Nice to catch a Dart and Volvo together and we'll be seeing all of the Volvo
B7 RLE's later in this series. It's interesting to compare the design and
shape of these two single deckers from 2002 and 2004 respectively.

The DART tests the battery in support of Global Response Battalion 1 on the their ability to conduct standard and non-standard fire missions such as the out of traverse, and emergency fire missions both day at night under stressful situations to ensure they can support any mission for GRB-1 within 18 hours of notification. This is a poison-dart frog from the Iquitos area of Peru. As you can see, a very, very small animal even as an adult. Compare this to the giant toad to get a sense of scale. My hands are in both photos.
Darter dragonflies in the garden disagreeing about a perch. The airborne one seemed to be trying to chase off the other one which was having none of it
The Australasian Darter swims underwater searching for fish. It has to periodically dry its wings by holding them out in the sun. Found on the Daintree River.

Oriental darter hunting for fish in Keoladeo National Park.
These birds are really weird looking and have beautiful colours.
They have conservation status NT - Near Threatened.

The continuing Dart cull at Guildford has seen off all but a few of the buses.
Here's 3090 (P290 FPK), a survivor at the moment, at Guildford bus station on route 26.
Expect it to disappear relatively soon as new DAFs arrive.
