The Australasian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae) is a species of bird in the darter family, Anhingidae. It is found in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. This one has been captured at the Russel Hinz Park, Gold Coast, Queensland, Austraila.

On the 27th April 2019 0-6-0PT no. 9466 looks as pretty as a picture along side the River Dart at Staverton whilst working a South Devon Railway service from Buckfasstleigh to Totnes.

In a yard adjacent to the Olympian is this former First Kernow Dennis Dart, new to First Southampton.
Mini Dart 43810 is generally a Torpoint allocation although less work in recent times has seen its fleet often used by Plymouth.
The 1 & 1A services to Saltash / Latchbrook get very busy and something a bit bigger is required as exemplified by the standing load on this working.
No prize winner but illustrative of the threats that beset coupling dragonflies and damselflies.
A male and females are in the act of fertilising eggs at the bottom while a second male tries to intervene above. The lower male grasps his girl with purpose-built claspers around the base of her head while she arches to take sperm from a temporary sperm sac.
On this occasion the interloper gave up but I have watched much more intense battles with attempted drowning.
