No prize winner but illustrative of the threats that beset coupling dragonflies and damselflies.

A male and females are in the act of fertilising eggs at the bottom while a second male tries to intervene above. The lower male grasps his girl with purpose-built claspers around the base of her head while she arches to take sperm from a temporary sperm sac.

On this occasion the interloper gave up but I have watched much more intense battles with attempted drowning.

A very happy male Common Darter chillaxing on a fence, these guys just love to hang out on fences, if you are fortunate you can find a very amiable Darter, some almost seem to enjoy posing for you. I've even had them fly off and land back infront of my camera with a snack.

In this image I was experimenting with fill in flash again, I actually had my ISO at 1000 for this and an aperture of F/13, still got me a shutter speed of 1/60th of a second, but it's really nice not to get flash fall off. Also with lightroom you can reduce the noise and sharpen. You just need a very steady hand, some support or something like a fence to lean on LOL :o)

Single image shot in Av mode with MP-E at about x2 mag, F/13, ISO1000, TTL flash and 1/60 shutter speed

I think this is a female common darter - one of the least interesting dragonflies to me but still nice to photograph.

Once again seen in the field with 5 ponds.

This juvenile ruddy darter (Sympetrum sanguineum, Blutrote Heidelibelle) was really patiend and trusting so that I had plenty of time to take photos of almost all angles and as always I felt this excitement getting so close to such a fascinating creature with my macro lens.

a common darter at Charlottetown this morning

Suburban XN40. It started the make ready process on 11/3/16. This one may have been set aside for training and familiarization. The XN40's has the Allison B400R transmission, and the Cummins ISL G280 engine just like the Gen-III's

Northern Counties Paladin bodied Dennis Dart from BusByBono. Quite a pleasing model that has the look of the prototype. Constructed from ABS type plastic rather than Diecast or Resin, it's major short comings are in the application of the livery. It appears to be applied using a decal which gives a patchy effect to the colour when viewed close up. The rear is the worse bit as it appears that the printer was running low on ink with obvious printer lines clearly visible.

A good attempt, just let down by poor quality control (Which incidentally my FirstBus issue suffered from).

New to London Buses as DR131, J131 DUV is seen abandoned at Crossbush Services on the A27.

It has been heavily vandalised and has an expired eviction notice from the service area. I imagine it won't be long for this world!
