In Shanghai China they are building what we call cookie cutter homes for the rich and middle class. These homes are identical in every way except when the person who owns the home comes in and decorates. By doing this method of construction it saves time and money and is easier to build than if you create new designs every time. In Shanghai they don't have time to come up with new designs when everything is changing so rapidly and they need new homes to accommodate the exploding population.

I've been working on jig parts in front of this mill for two days now. I wish I could get more done with my time, but I'm going slow and careful, and a machining novice.
New toy from Rockler Woodworking, a Lumberjack TTR1000 1" tenon cutter. I'm going to replace one of our inside stair railings with one made of small logs, that was a good excuse for a couple of new tools. Boring construction photos to follow! Oh boy!

Family Apidae. Leaf-cutter bee... one of the solitary bees. Megachile sp. So named because of the large cutting jaws which enable their leaf-cutting activites. The leaf semicircles (roses are often the favoured leaf...) are used for making egg cells in holes and crevices. The striking orange patch on the under surface of the bee is used to collect pollen to provision the egg cells.

Metallic silver tone plastic cookie cutter charms. The gingerbread man and star are too tiny for practical use. You can see I tried from the brown Sculpey polymer clay still stuck to the heart :)
I figure these would also be usable as charms on a bracelet but don't like using metallic plastic as it fades.
