Well I've been meaning to get up here this winter and it seemed a decent forecast, so after a dawn shoot and a couple of other locations in the Lakes I headed over to Dufton, near Appleby and went for it.
It was good walk all the way up to the head of this spectacular valley and it took me a good hour and a half to get to this point. On the way up I saw two men speeding down the Pennine Way and said good afternoon to both of them, but they had their heads down like they were somewhere else and resolutely moved on silently!
Anyway, after a 30 minute shoot up at the top in freezing conditions, I had a couple of decent pano's in the bag, as my 16-35 wasn't wide enough to get the full vista in. I set off back down and I was stopped twice on the way down, (which took me just under an hour), by two chaps who asked me if I was in the "Spine"?
I hadn't a clue what they were talking about and it wasn't until I got home later and watched the news that I saw there was an endurance "Montane Spine Race" on this stretch of the Pennine Way! So, I at least found out why my “backbone” was being questioned on my descent!
This is a spectacular glaciated "U" shaped Valley where the Great Whin Sill runs horizontally through this area creating sheer sides and some spectacular columnar rocks. I had hoped to stay here for sunset, but as you can see there was a bank of cloud in the West. So I managed this shot with the light before things closed in. Great day out all in all!
Found these colorful plastic cups with great shapes that make an interesting still life. Finding all these forgotten items stuffed away throughout the house to hopefully photo during the quarantine.

Being the eldest of 3, I always had the best ideas lol. This was a gift from my sister and is now my favourite mug!
Big thanks for viewing 😀
Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated. And thank you all for looking.
Another morning of beautiful light. The sun is rising in Wasatch Mountain range around 7:15 am these days and the light streams down my street and right on my front porch. Not prepared for photography this morning and just grabbed a cup of coffee, usually I dress mine with hazelnut creamer but today I added none. Enjoy your favorite beverage and savor the light wherever life takes you today.
After the end of her torrid affair with Spoon, Dish thought that maybe, finally, she had found love again, even if the handsome stranger was rather easy to read.
My sister-in-law collects arty objects so it is always fun to visit their place and see what I find. Have a good Wednesday.
Sometimes I make unnecessary extra work for myself , as has been the case today and yesterday.
I thought I would force myself to have another go at conquering Layers in my PSP. Looked at videos first, but got fed up having to stop and start to make notes every couple of seconds.
Decided it would be easier to find written tutorial to print out , but that was no good either. I always find when following instructions that my screen layouts, lists and icons never seem to exactly match theirs and I'm left floundering and frustrated [ I thought I was doing this for relaxation and fun]....
Gave up on that and decided it might be easier to use a texture overlay , or underlay. So I took some shots of my own 'bokeh' effects plus several separate shots of a mini cup [ Just over 1" tall]
and saucer to amalgamate.
Well, I got myself in the same sort of mess with that too, so I abandoned ship .
Talk about fed up! What I need is a real person showing me what to do .... but alas that is highly unlikely ever to happen. [No suggestions about joining a camera club, classes etc please]
I've decided it's easier for me to do as much as I can with the actual camera after all - and it was much more relaxing and fun too. I'd rather fiddle around with f numbers, depth of field, lighting etc ...
But I keep seeing the lovely work that other photographers post here and oh how I hanker after doing more creative stuff with Layers and Textures. Ha ha - the grass is always greener I s'pose!
