Within the UK, the Cryptic Wood White only occurs in Northern Ireland. It was discovered to be different from the Wood White in 2001 and, more recently, its identification was changed again to this new name. The Wood White is very similar, but seems to be restricted to the Burren region in Ireland.
The upperwings are white with rounded edges. The males have a black mark in the edge of the forewing. The undersides are white, with indistinct grey or greenish markings.

The cryptic feather details of the Water Thickknee are responsible for their great camouflage and enhances their ability to hide from predators. Their large eyes are indicative of their nocturnal habits. These very common waders are found along the sandbanks and shorelines of perennial rivers. Due to their abundance they are often overlooked. I find them really beautiful, and cannot drive past one without stopping to take a photo..

A semi mature Male Crimson Scarlet taken in Century Park, Shanghai (China) on the 6th August 2010.
I found this male amongst hundreds of fully mature C. Servilia, initially I thought it may be a different species because of the cryptic yellow / red patterns, but it isn't!

The Common Potoo is a large nocturnal bird of lowland forests and forest edges of southern Central America and central and northern South America. During the day, Common Potoos usually roost on snags, exposed branches, where their cryptic and disruptive coloration helps them remain avoid detection.
They hide beneath every soul,
Each different for every soul,
Horizon in distance, way is unknown
Your soul will lead the way, just have faith in it.

I found a number of cow skulls and one deer skull in this area. I walked along a creek, more accurately a deep rivulet field drain and found this shard as I emerged from the ravine. Apparently, I was seeing skulls everywhere and this shell of a rotten tree spoke to me, called to me. I stood it upright to capture its essence. I wanted to take it home but currently, I have none. I choose, instead to wander and leave my creations & discoveries behind. I felt I was under a forest canopy but the photo reveals the trees were mostly bare.
