Odontosphindus denticollis LeConte, 1878. Found at Mayville Ledge Beech-Maple Woods SNA in east-central Wisconsin. Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA.
Found in mixed hardwood forest. The two individuals in this series were partially embedded in a mature slime mold fruiting body (thinking Fuligo septica) on a fallen hardwood tree. They were not moving at all, maybe busy feeding?
I was very happy to see these as it has been one of my goals in the last couple of years to get relatively clear in-situ/in-myxo pics of this species. Usually they are covered in substrate.
Single exposure, heavily cropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-26EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie and plastic cup diffuser.
I have no idea what this is... it was on the mottled surface of a windfall log in the water. About 2cm in length.
