This is a composite of 2 shots, each with exposures of 25 seconds, taken by a fairly busy (and frankly quite dangerous) crossing in my local town.

With a young Park Service Flagger protecting the crossing, NPS Car 1602 rolls slowly across Kearney Square, en route to Lower Locks with a 2:30 PM Trolley Tour. The bridge on the left crosses the city's Eastern Canal. The pretty mill building in the distance is Massachusetts Mills, and the stone structure on the right is part of Middlesex Community College. Just beyond that is the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, which hosts concerts and shows by major performers.

I've been racing this Ferrari F-158 this week, part of the series using cars and technology from the 60s'. John Surtees would have driven the F-158 during his 1964 season.
This was at the end of a long race. Watkins Glen. Maybe my favourite circuit. Very wet, very dark.

Washington Crossing Bridge from the Pennsylvania side, connecting to New Jersey. It is a truss bridge spanning the Delaware River that connects Titusville, Hopewell Township in Mercer County, New Jersey with Washington Crossing, Upper Makefield Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1904 by the Taylorsville Delaware Bridge Company. The bridge is currently owned and operated by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Delft Seaways is a ro-pax ferry owned and operated by DFDS Seaways. She is the one of three sister ships designed for the cross-Channel route from Dover to Dunkerque, capable of making the crossing in one hour and 45 minutes. Delft Seaways is a Scandinavian designed ship built at the Samsung shipyards in South Korea in 2005. She sails under the flag of the United Kingdom and her port of registry is Dover.

The ceremony of Crossing the Line is an initiation rite in the British Merchant Navy, Dutch merchant navy, Royal Navy, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, Royal Australian Navy, Russian Navy, and other navies that commemorate a sailor's first crossing of the Equator. The tradition may have originated with ceremonies when passing headlands, and become a "folly" sanctioned as a boost to morale, or have been created as a test for seasoned sailors to ensure their new shipmates were capable of handling long rough times at sea. Sailors who have already crossed the Equator are nicknamed (Trusty/Honorable) Shellbacks, often referred to as Sons of Neptune; those who have not are nicknamed (Slimy) Pollywogs (in 1832 the nickname griffins was noted ).
Equator-crossing ceremonies, typically featuring King Neptune, are also sometimes carried out for passengers' entertainment on civilian ocean liners and cruise ships. They are also performed in the merchant navy and aboard sail training ships.

Looking down at Hoyt’s crossing on the South Fork of the Yuba River. This picture was taken in early November when the trees were in their full autumn color.
The study concluded that Mixing Zone and Fully Split Phase intersections have substantial bike crash reductions following installation. It also found that Delayed Turn and Offset Crossing intersections make cyclists feel comfortable and reduce conflicts with vehicles, like crashes and right of way confusion.

Northern 156483 crossing the Skerne Bridge Darlington working 2D36 12:26 Bishop Auckland to Saltburn on 8th November 2025. This bridge made a belated introduction to fame after 200 years when the anniversary of the first passenger rail service saw the replica of Locomotion No1 work across watched by large crowds. It was soon back to normality though.
