We were the first ones to walk down the beach after the tide went out. About a half mile into our walk, we came across this expansive curious cross-hatch pattern of cast out sand from some kind of community of creatures. It seems they were all "keeping house" after the receding sea. It looks like they came up slinging sand either front to back or side to side, and not in a radial fashion
I dug into a few of them, but found nothing. My guess is sand fleas - little shrimp-like crustaceans. Any guesses? Anyone know the responsible party?

I had a short break at the beachside town of Lorne this week and took my Creature from the Black Lagoon. It was lots of fun exploring the rockpools with him.
God from eternity, decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any wise to be the author or approver of sin nor to destroy the free agency and responsibility of intelligent creatures

Flattery says that with the chill in the air this weekend that it was time to spoil her with the creature comforts. Who am I to argue?

I think the sea stacks here look a bit like the head and dorsal fin of some sea creature partially submerged.
The clouds started to break up at this point, giving me and Alan some false hope that there would be enough of a gap for a colorful sunset. This ended up being the best light all afternoon.
Looks pretty nice in Lightbox, if you have the time.
This was my original pattern and example for the 'Whimsical Creatures' workshop I taught a week ago.
I am currently making more!

I love this guy from Warcraft, I don't know what he's called but I've always liked creatures with parts from different animals.
As I was sitting here at my computer tonight working on some photos this little guy flew up and landed on the desk next to me. I was able to get him to crawl onto a white sheet of paper and take a few photos of him before he flew off on his way. I've got no clue as to what species he is so if anyone knows what he's called please tell me I'd appreciate it. I'm really starting to love macro photography and how much detail it lets you see in the world of small things.
*Edit- After looking around online I might have identified the species. I think it's Crambus leachellus although I could be wrong.
