Clever creature creations seen at Soda Dam in New Mexico. At such time as I get a lawn/garden, I may have to make my own.
Andrew Bell is one of my favorite artists--he has a website called Creatures in My Head, and he just draws random little creatures. He's always really nice at shows, and I have a couple of other sketches from him, from before I started this sketchbook.

Gli alberi non sono mai dritti, non importa loro che posizione assumono. Non si costringono in forme dritte e prestabilite. Anzi sembrano sempre quasi che cerchino di raggiungere il sole, si ampliano verso nuovi orizzonti e vedo i rami intrecciarsi, sostenersi l'un l'altro. Io li vedo come antichi custodi della Terra e non potrai mai vedere un albero uguale ad un altro anche se sono della stessa specie. Credo che gli alberi, anche se non hanno sangue, siano molto più simili a noi di quanto noi pensiamo e allo stesso tempo così lontani.
Sono creature arcaiche, loro.

Under the SEM. This is a foram, or foraminifera, tiny ocean-living creatures that can be used to study paleoclimatology. I think this guy is from a deep sea core.
