The shy creature is a European ground squirrel. I took this photo at the zoo at Nuernberg, Germany. The ground squirrels aren't really zoo animals but they seem to feel very much at home there. This one lives in the enclosure of the rhinoceros but I have seen them in many other enclosures too. They are probably not very popular among zoo personnel as they dig tunnels everywhere.
Even though they are omnipresent it's quite difficult to take photos of them as they are tiny, very fast, extremely shy and they always tend to hide in the high grass.
Swept this up from under the bed. I thought they were supposed to be bunnies!

I just love the colors of this creature from the Monkey Kid series. I had to take it to our creek bottom and photograph it.
I found a spot where the creek had a spring and wasn't covered in ice!
Fall is upon us and the green is disappearing into radiant colors of amber, scarlet and burgundy. Little white flakes of perfection will soon appear but remember your woodland creatures. This pretty piece is in honor of those creatures. Beautiful ceramic toggle ,rondelle and twig barrel bead by Muddymuse. The toggle is looped with chips of jade, white turquoise, tiny wooden rounds, and pewter. Carved jade leaf bead plays off of the beautiful lampwork focal by Etsian, Janesbeads. Unique silver leaf agate oval donut embraces a precious ceramic face, the muse of the woodland creatures!
I doubt anyone's gonna fave a pic of a fish head but I really wanted to capture how much the fishmongers at Ghim Moh Wet Market enjoy their jobs and allowed me to take as many pictures as I wanted of them working! One of them even went through the process of gutting a fish three times so my friends and I could get our shots.

Seeing a creature's head in the stump of an old big leaf Maple tree.

Description (English) : The Epicronus (Megabranchus epicronus) is a creature with a striking ressemblance to a tree. The Epicronus is the most common "tree" of the 'Big Branch Forest'. The forest was named after this creature having large hollow horizontal branches just below its canopy. When multiples specimens are close to each others, their branches tends to connect and create a real wooden labyrinth. The Trunk of this "tree" is covered by small spines and many large opening like holes filled with a purple fool smelling sticky liquid.

L'épicrone à grosses branches est l'"arbre" le plus commun de la foret à grosses branches, nom qui lui est donneee à cause de la caractéristique de cet "arbre" à avoir de large branches creuses et horizontales juste au dessous de sa canopée. Quand plusieurs individus sont proches des uns des autres, ces branches se connectent et forme un vrai labyrinthe de bois. Le tronc de cet "arbre" est couvert de multiples petites épines et de nombreux trous formant comme des taches remplies d'un liquide violet collant et nauséabond.
I made a drive over to the Benicia State Park about 5 miles from where I live yesterday in hopes of beating the heat wave that was expected. I took both cameras...after spending some time trying to find the birds I decided to get my macro camera out. The lesson I learned today with my macro camera is if you find a bug, sit and wait, chances are you will find many more! To my amazement they suddenly started appearing as I got my eyes adjusted for these 'little creatures'...:)

More, like a person than a bird? I says.
Yeah, she says. That's it.
Whatever you do, I says, don't tell him that. I'll never hear the end of it.

This is Miss Blaze Smith. Please notice that she has her "blankey" in her mouth. She was my last rescue in Sebring, orphaned way too young with her brother, TIgger. Tigger was killed the day after I TNR released him back into the hood.
I think this is an instinct from her babyhood. She kinda sorta sucks on her blankey while kneading all around it as a kitten nursing its mother.
This always makes me a little sad, yet thankful that I got to help this tiny little creature that was left all alone in a big, cruel world.
She's our favorite ... just don't tell the others I said that!

This red squirrel loves to sit in our Christmas tree waiting for the right moment to hit the nearby feeder...shot through the window :)

Adorably Fairy-like creatures !! The pale shades of these darlings , with their tiny raindrops -- even with no sun (!)-- fill my being with awe and admiration for all His Plant-Life Kingdom!!
