When I was a small child, I always wondered why sweepstakes ticket vendors do not become rich. When I saw this old woman in Sto Domingo church in Quezon city, who seem to have made this church door her permanent selling place, the same old nagging questions came back again.
Now I understand their plight better...I hope.>

This detailed portrait of a monitor lizard, captured at ZooParc de Beauval, reveals the reptile’s textured armor and unblinking stare. Every scale is a fragment of ancient design, evolved over millions of years, refined by sun and survival.
Shot with a focus on light and texture, the frame isolates the animal in its stillness. Post-processing emphasized the tonal contrast between the clay-colored skin and the soft green bokeh, delivering a naturalistic yet cinematic mood
