Artist Statement

This work exists in the space between arrival and decision.

I’m drawn to moments when places feel emptied of purpose—when buildings, designed for order and instruction, are reduced to silent observers. The figure is not a character but a condition: a pause made visible. They are neither entering nor leaving, only standing long enough for the weight of the place to assert itself.

Light here is not symbolic—it is functional, institutional, indifferent. It reveals just enough to confirm presence while withholding comfort. The fog softens nothing; it merely delays clarity.

My work often returns to these thresholds—where identity thins, where intention quiets, and where solitude becomes structural rather than emotional. This piece is less about darkness than about restraint: what remains when nothing is asking to be seen.

Artist Statement

This piece lives in the moment after resilience fails but before disappearance begins.

I was interested in how architecture absorbs human emotion without responding—how brick, light, and pavement outlast the private collapses that happen at their feet. The figure is not meant to be heroic or tragic; they are simply present, folded inward, momentarily smaller than the structures that surround them.

The lighting is restrained on purpose. I wanted the glow to feel indifferent—functional rather than compassionate. The shadows are not dramatic; they are practical. This is not a moment that announces itself. It happens quietly, the way most real reckonings do.

This work is part of my ongoing exploration of urban silence—the spaces where people pause, not to be seen, but because they have nowhere else to stand.

Offering Vessel” examines the ritualized language of surrender how the body enacts meaning through the simplest gestures. In this piece, the unseen figure becomes a conduit, the curved container they hold a metaphor for both burden and release. The fluid it drips is not just liquid it’s memory, intention, sacrifice. The blood-like trail stains not just the wall but the air, hanging in silence like breath held too long. I created this work as a meditation on intimacy and transference, where the act of pouring becomes both cleansing and damning. It is not about death, but about what we are willing to give up in order to feel seen. This piece lives in the shadow space between sacred offering and quiet unraveling intimate, severe, and unresolved.

"Beacon in the Nocturne," my intention was to capture the profound quietude and subtle drama of an urban night. This piece explores how artificial light shapes our perception of space and imbues ordinary scenes with a sense of mystery and solitude. The central streetlamp, a lone sentinel, casts a powerful, almost tangible beam of light that cuts through the encompassing darkness, illuminating a path and revealing fragments of the street.

The damp asphalt reflects this glow, adding a slick, almost liquid quality to the ground, while the bare branches of a nearby tree shimmer with an ethereal light. The buildings lining the street recede into deep shadow, their windows offering faint, intriguing glimmers of internal life. The empty benches in the foreground invite contemplation, hinting at absent figures or a moment of stillness in the city's ceaseless rhythm. It's about finding beauty in the stark contrasts of urban night, the silent narratives that unfold in its depths, and the comforting, yet isolating, presence of distant light.
