They never knocked. Never spoke. Just stood there—always in the same suits, always facing the same direction, like a memory frozen in the act of forgetting you. You pulled back the curtain, held your breath, and watched. They did not move.
You’re not sure when they arrived. Only that they never left.
Artist Process:
This piece uses sharp contrast and framing to build tension—placing the viewer in the role of the observer, half-hidden behind a caravan window. The color palette leans toward muted autumnal tones, emphasizing the leaf-littered ground and bare trees as symbols of decay and stasis. The repetition of identical suited figures evokes a surreal, uncanny sensation, inspired by dream logic and surveillance culture. The stillness is deliberate—this moment feels like it could last forever, or snap in an instant.

The Workshop took place at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield on Saturday 4th of July 2009.
"Descent of Crimson," my intention was to create a moment of intense visual drama and unsettling ambiguity within an industrial, almost subterranean, environment. This piece explores themes of process, transformation, and the visceral nature of liquid in motion. The central focus is a stream of rich, lustrous crimson liquid, caught mid-drip, its surface reflecting the ambient light with an almost metallic sheen. Its texture and movement are rendered with a powerful, almost mesmerizing detail.
The background is a dimly lit, damp space, possibly a tunnel or a raw industrial corridor, with pipes or conduits running along the wall, suggesting a hidden system or a clandestine operation. Streaks of light pierce through the gloom, creating dramatic shafts and highlighting the particulate atmosphere, adding to the sense of mystery and depth. The stark contrast between the vibrant, flowing red and the muted, cold surroundings creates a powerful tension. It's about finding beauty in the raw and the unrefined, the compelling nature of liquid forms, and the unspoken narratives within industrial shadows.
