Busy weekend, didn't take a single shot yet.
Have been a bit creative this week though for two competitions.
For the weekly CameraCraniums competition, we have to find things 'in the kitchen.' As my food photographs, as in prepared meals, never come out the way I want, and I didn't want to photograph utensils, I took refuge here. Nice, juicy colourful tomatoes, that don't move when I 'pull the trigger. A bit of creative editing and there we are.

This morning I ran early to work. Not incredibly so, only about 20 minutes so I could go to an appointment this afternoon and not have to take time off.
My timing was perfect.
The sun was shining brightly on the outside of the Old Parliament Buildings (now the Victoria University Law School), and there was a big bank of clouds behind. The yellow wood v blue cloud contrast was just screaming for capture!
Of course, I edited it for best effect (in Picnik): Reduce exposure and increase contrast, burn the sky a little, while doing a quick dodge over the building. Boost about 15% and add a vignette.
Sounds like a lot of work, but really, more a lot of fun!

My original photograph of this Sumatran Tiger was taken at the Phoenix Zoo on March 12, 2011.
The Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is one of only five subspecies of tiger left in the world. These subspecies, the Bengal, The Indochinese, the Siberian, the Chinese, and the Sumatran tigers, are all on the U.S. Department of the Interior's Endangered Species list.

More black and white shots HERE.
After a period of 'reality photography,' I've been playing with golls again.
A nice relaxing change, especially as the weather wasn't too inviting.
There are more 'Golls' HERE if you are interested.

I borrowed 'Swanny' from Den, and have been waiting for some sunshine to have a play with shadows. This is one of the shots I ended up with.

Several inches of snow fell but the winds remained light. The roads were dangerous, driving was very difficult in the morning. I took this photo later when things were calmer and the scenery was nice.

This is the reconstructed church at Antietam National Battlefield. The church was part of the battle and aftermath. The original structure was damaged in the fighting and pieces were looted before a storm completely destroyed it. Some original materials were found and used for the rebuild.

“Let Me Breathe”
by V.G. Grace
Let me breathe within a valley of kindness;
let me breathe amongst a people full of love.
Let me breathe where the air is sweet
like honey;
where pain’s forgotten history
and humanity is humanity’s beloved.
Let me breathe surrounded by an eternal garden,
planted
within untroubled soil;
let me breathe the perfume of tranquility,
instead of
old civilization’s old sweat and turmoil.
The promise of my exquisite hopes
are beckoning;
as wide and never-ending as the sea.
‘Till then, I breathe beneath my burdens;
not quite prisoner,
not quite free.
(Special thanks to V.G. Grace for the use of her moving poem “Let Me Breathe”)
Fallen angel? I doubt it.
This will be the last Goll shot, for the time being. I've got it out of my system, and can now go back to everyday 'reality photography.'
There will be more though.
There are more 'Golls' HERE if you are interested.

Busy weekend, didn't take a single shot yet.
Have been a bit creative this week though for two competitions.
The original shot, without the editing, was a possible for the ARAF competition 'Signs of Spring.' Didn't think it would do though.
