The forty-fourth entry for my 52 weeks project here on Flickr.
This is what happens when I head down to my studio without the slightest idea what to shoot for this week and therefore rummaging in a storage room in the search for suitable accessories. And look what I found! A Jerk-in-the-Box! :-D Just kidding. I found an old accordion that I put to a good use... I hope you like its new purpose.
What else is new? Well, my wife returned from her vacation in Egypt two days ago (thank God!!), the kids are back and we started renovating our old kitchen today by tearing apart the old one. The renovation will consume the next four weekends and will hopefully lead to a brand new kitchen on December 7th. And on a side note: I finished the main story and all except for one side mission of "Arkham City". What a spectacular game!!

I always have the most fun when I'm doing creative editing and it seems to be missing from my stream of late.
I'm researching a little editing skills in magazines etc. and calling on my husband for PS help! He is the expert!
I took the main shoe image of my husband and myself on the weekend. I worked on the texture by using couple of my own photos of raindrops on my winsdcreen at night taken last year lit only by my porch light and I added the lens flare in last.
I hope this has a spacey out there look!
PS Wrong date on the photo. I think I got confused when creating the layers and used my photo raindrop texture as the main layer so the picture has adopted that date. Still learning! :-)

The weekly Camera Craniums competition, demands 'water,' so that's what they'll get.
If I enter, that is, as I am rather busy at the moment, with not much time for photography. If I were to win, I'd have to get more involved than I have time for.

Hubby hung these beautiful butterflies on the ceiling above where I sleep, so when I wake up in the morning, they are dancing all over from the fan blowing in the room. They sparkle so wonderfully, but I was having trouble capturing the sparkle as I wanted, so I found this great burst of color effect to put behind them and added the bottle PIP for an extra special effect.
I love all these effects editors, but I get frustrated that they strip the original EXIF data, so I've been playing with EXIF editors and uploading later than I plan. ;-)
Elephants are widely considered to be symbols of good luck and fortune in many cultures, particularly in Asia. In Asian traditions, they are often linked to deities like Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, and are believed to bring good luck and prosperity. In India they represent power, stability and wisdom. In Hinduism, elephants are considered sacred.
The forty-fifth entry for my 52 weeks project here on Flickr. Only seven more to go...
It has become quite late editing this one, that's why it's more like an "upload and run" today. Still not as perfect as I'd want it to be but I ran out of time and energy. And I think you get the point... err... the pun. :-)

The forty-ninth entry for my 52 weeks project here on Flickr.
There were times when this project almost got me beaten. But I fought back. And you should see the other guy :-) The last quick and dirty one, I promise. The last three shots are planned out and will mark a worthy conclusion to my project. Until then... I hope you enjoy this one anyway!
Ah, by the way. Kitchen renovation is over! We are now official owners of a shiny new kitchen. And it is spec-ta-cu-lar! :-)

Another vintage rendition of one of the Lakeside lakes. On the right hand side, the small bridge from the previous image is just visible.

Oh my. One more picture to go. I'm seriously starting to get sentimental (as you might tell from my sad facial expression). As some of you might notice I was not standing in the middle of a cemetery in winter. The sign is real, though. I made it myself in our garage two days ago.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! I hope you can enjoy a few days of peace and tranquility.

Sorry for this rather simplistic approach, but I had something like this in mind since the beginning of this project. And what better reason could there be to realize it as the release of the new Batman: Arkham City video game? :-)
Did I mention that I'm on vacation again? Well, not the kind of vacation one might suspect. My wife's enjoying her one week stay in Egypt (on her employer's account) while her dutifully husband stays at home with 2 kids, a dog, ten chicken, two rabbits, two mice and all the chores that come along with. To ease my mind I granted myself an Xbox 360 lately. If you'd excuse me now, I have to roam the streets of Arkham City... ;-) See ya next week!

Aussie wildlife - we call them Koala Bears, though they're not a bear. They typically inhabit open Eucalyptus woodland, as the leaves of these trees make up most of their diet. They're largely sedentary and sleep up to twenty hours a day. They are asocial animals, and bonding exists only between mothers and dependent offspring. Being marsupials, koalas give birth to underdeveloped young that crawl into their mothers' pouches, where they stay for the first six to seven months of their lives. These young koalas, known as joeys, are fully weaned around a year old. Koalas have few natural predators and parasites, but are threatened by various pathogens, such as Chlamydiaceae bacteria and koala retrovirus - Sourced from wikipedia
Man threatens their habitat by the grab for development irrespective of the effect on native populations.
Still on the fairground pictures, but I decided to give these two girls a bit of extra attention, turning them from 21st century girls into ... Victorian girls?

Along the waterfront where I live, we have a wading pool for the kids with a corkscrew slide into the water. This week it was very windy and quite cold so only the seagulls were enjoying the water.
We all I know I love retro... anything even a little bit vintage!!
So I put together this image with the following components:
* Texture I created yesterday.
* Bus Stop sign from when my husband went to the Sydney Tramway Museum for the Tram Festival in February.
* Vintage Bus photo also taken at the Tram Festival. This type of bus was known as a Trolley Bus and was used in conjunction with the trams back in the day!
*Angel... well I created her wings from a bokeh photo of mine and the mannequin herself was a photo I took in December in the city.
Hope everyone is having a nice week!

An old one. I know I talked about doing a tutorial on the previous picture of this series, but to be honest I neither had time nor muse to do so. I got the proper tools and I even recorded a test, but I didn't get a publishable result, sorry. But since creative editing will stay one of my major fields of interest, I probably will do a tutorial some day. But not for now. And not for this picture.
No strobist info for this one. Doesn't really matter because most of the lighting effects are faked anyhow *g*

Waiting for a delivery and a contractor, I had a look at some photos I took on the local Common earlier this week.
Same old, same old. I have photographed the Ornamental Lake (or fishing lake) over and over again over the years.
So it was time for a bit of playful editing.
Used my own textures and Nik filters.
