PANORAMA CITY - The Los Angeles Fire Department's Recruit Training Academy Class 22-2 celebrated their class graduation on December 15, 2022, as they became proud probationary members of the LAFD.
Friends and family of the graduates were joined by City of Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley and civic and community leaders, in congratulating and welcoming the 48 newest members of the Department in a ritual filled ceremony that was also streamed live on-line.

«Les Living Rooms sont des dispositifs qui peuvent accueillir différentes formes et présences. Tel un vivarium, ils capturent des humanités chancelantes, fragiles, dans des environnements artificiels qui les préservent et les donnent à voir. Dans Living Room no.2 : L'effet Tunnel, des êtres, suspendus entre l'envol et la chute, semblent égarés entre ciel et terre, comme au coeur d'un labyrinthe sans issue. Goutte à goutte, l'huile qui tombe dénie l'inertie apparente des choses ; accélérant la dégradation des matières, elle engage l'installation vers sa propre finalité.»

David altmejd
Né à Montréal en 1974, David Altmejd obtient son baccalauréat de l’Université du Québec à Montréal en 1998 et sa maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’université Columbia (New York) en 2001. Il participe à la 8e Biennale d’Istanbul en 2003, à la Biennale du Whitney en 2004, à la première édition de la Triennale d’art québécois, tenue au Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MACM) en 2008. Il représente le Canada à la 52e Biennale de Venise en 2007 et reçoit en 2009 le prix Sobey. Plusieurs musées canadiens et étrangers ont acquis des œuvres de lui, notamment le MACM, le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada, le Musée des beaux-arts de l’Ontario, le Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, Les Abattoirs de Toulouse, le Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum de New York, le Whitney Museum of American Art de New York, le Museum of Contemporary Art de Los Angeles et le MUDAM Luxembourg (Musée d’art moderne Grand-Duc Jean). En 2015, Altmejd est fait Compagnon des arts et des lettres du Québec et le MCAM tient une importante rétrospective de son œuvre. David Altmejd vit et travaille à New York.

PACIFIC PALISADES - More than 120 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responding by ground and air to the 500 block of Palisades Drive, were assisted by Los Angeles County Fire Department hand crews in safely extinguishing a brush fire in steep terrain fanned by light winds on September 30, 2019.
