No one subscribes to cable here. You just pay some pirate 10 bucks and he strings a colored cable to your apartment. So above the streets hangs a tangled canopy of multicolored wires piping in stolen cable TV.

Description de l’œuvre : Fabuloscopes :
Faites tourner les Fabuloscopes pour voir leur histoire prendre vie!
Les Fabuloscopes sont des mécanismes inspirés des Zootropes et Praxinoscopes, jouets mis au point au 19ème siècle qui permettaient de comprendre l’image animée. Le principe mécanique et optique est revisité avec de la technologie. Les visiteurs sont invités à faire tourner le volant, seul ou collectivement. Une fois que le volant est lancé, les images successives se transforme en animation fluide grâce à l’effet lumineux du stroboscope. Ces animations reprennent des fables ou des contes très connus, réinterprétés pour laisser place à des valeurs plus contemporaines.

Little home makes great breakfast pastries, cash only.
The guy at shoefix is one of the nicest. He waves at anyone looking when the walking by to and fro in the morning and evening. (Update, unfortunately shoefix is now closed!)
When I took this photo, a security guard came over and grilled me about what I was doing in this plaza with a camera. He told me that photos weren't allowed. (Is is such a dangerous photo, isn't it?)
He was wrong, and rude, and completely out of any legal jurisdiction. Really, what can security guards actually do, since they aren't law enforcement?
The sad thing is, this happened in my backyard, in my hometown.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - The men, women - and canines of the Los Angeles City Fire Department were actively deployed during late summer and early fall of 2020 to massive wildfires across the western United States. Among those sent forth have been highly trained LAFD members assigned to California Urban Search and Rescue Regional Task Force 9 (CA-RTF-9), including human remains detection canines Veya and Charli, seen here at the massive North Complex Fire in northern California that spanned Plumas, Butte and Yuba counties, to perform the dolorous task of safely and respectfully recovering those who perished in the flames.
