After a back and forth battle in the courts to decide the fate of the center for graffiti culture known as 5 Pointz, in a controversial move, the owners decide to paint over most of the art on display at the site pending any further litigation. The cover up took place in the dead of night to avoid more conflict. The official word is that it was done to spare the artists the pain of seeing their work at the end of a wrecking ball but that excuse seems flimsy. A recent ruling favored the owners being allowed to start demolition as soon as the paperwork and planning is done. This was taken at the candlelight vigil on the night of the day that the whitewashing took place.

Bonita, my "Create-A-Monster" Skeleton, tries on some Liv wigs (and a Moxie Teenz wig.) I didn't cut the pegs off the insides of the wigs, so they sit a little low on her head, but it gives you an idea of how different wigs look on her. (The other 4 CAMs already had their fun last month: Dragon, Wolf, Vampire, Sea Monster)

My Siren CAM Iona. The name means 'island' which seems appropriate. She has a little Clamperl Pokemon friend named Perla.
The assembled vampire from the Create-A-Monster starter set. She is wearing her default outfit with the giant, tacky golden bat removed and Clawdeen's Sweet 1600 jacket.
EthioGreen is a company from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They make injera, the typical Ethiopian flatbread.
Injera is made from teff, a gluten-free, protein rich grain which is gaining popularity throughout the world.
EthioGreen is looking to expand so they can start exporting their authentic product. Mostly to the Ethiopian diaspora in the United States.
Since April 2015, Cordaid has supported 53 local small and medium-sized enterprises in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The Resilient Business Development Services program provided them with training, coaching, mentorship and expert seminars.
Although Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, many of its inhabitants still live in extreme poverty. Being able to work and earn a steady income is not within reach for most people living in the slums of the city or the remote countryside.
Cordaid has searched for businesses that have already proven to have what it takes to compete in both the local and international market but just need that final push to really get there. Cordaid believes that by strengthening these companies, more jobs will become available and in the long run, a large number of people will benefit from the economic growth.
Even when a company is successful in its core activity, there might be other factors that block its ability to expand and hire more employees. Dengel, for example, is already a well-known brand in Ethiopia. Now they want to export their nursing pillows to other countries in the region and compete with other brands.
"When we joined Cordaid, the training solved one of our major problems", says Dawit Desta, CEO of Dengel. "We lacked technical expertise. So we took courses in financial management, human resources management and marketing. This really made us take a big step forward. Now I see a lot of room for us to grow and become an international business in the near future."
In September 2018 Cordaid is starting the activities for the fifth and the last batch of small and medium-sized enterprises in Addis Ababa. This part of the program will be more integrated with Cordaid's investments branch. Through the Stability Impact Fund, the businesses that were deemed ready for investment can get better access to finance and do a much-needed investment to further their own dreams and those of Ethiopia.
Seraphine, the "Create-A-Monster" Dragon, tries on some Liv wigs. I didn't cut the pegs off the insides of the wigs, so some of them don't sit quite right.

Today I created an 80" by 22" puzzle as part of our building incentive for safety month. This is what it looked like before I cut the puzzle pieces. Can you find my kite? The kids will get to put up a puzzle piece for every 50 safety tickets we earn as a building until the puzzle is complete and we discover what our prize is going to be. So shhhhh...don't give it away guys. :)

We’re creating a Haunted House with lower-school students in our Maker Art class at the Lycée Français this fall.
In this after-school workshop, students are building a fantasy world together, with magical creatures, ghosts, witches and other animated characters inspired by Halloween.
We are combining arts and technology to bring their creations to life: each student will have their own room in our haunted house, and they will learn to build simple robots with motors and Arduino, then play with lights and sounds to tell their stories for our ‘show and tell’.
For our first class, we invited students to plan their Haunted House together, then design their rooms and characters, to be featured inside their cardboard ‘wonderboxes.’ My associate Sarah Brewer showed them how to create their own electronic circuit to light up an LED, using copper tape to connect the LED to the battery.
We teach this class to students in grades 4 and 5 at the Lycée Français in Sausalito, every Thursday at 3:30pm, from September 15 to December 15, 2016.

The Creatable World dolls are REALLY cute and fun to play with.
My only complaint is that the waist isn't jointed which limits posability a little. The wigs are also a little wonky.
- The mix-and-match outfits are awesome!
- The posability is really good
- They stand by themselves if they're wearing shoes.
Mattel, well done! A++++

The B Bond Warehouse was a Bonded warehouse serving Bristol Harbour.
It dates from 1908. It was designed by the Docks Committee engineer, and built by William Cowlin and Sons. It is made from reinforced concrete, with the ground floor in black brick with a low plinth and patent red bricks, blue engineering bricks, Pennant stone steps, terracotta details and a Welsh slate roof. The open plan building was created in two equal parts separated by central spine wall. It is nine storeys high and has an 18-window range. It was the first major building in Britain to use Edmond Coignet's reinforced concrete system.
The two halves of the building are now used as the Bristol Record Office and the Create Centre.
I was only away from Curtin University for 3 days, but while I was Hayley Welsh painted this new friend just outside my building. I think I'll keep him! ❤️
This is an old collection of edits we have done. It used to be a old hobby of ours. We haven't really messed with this all that much here recently. Too caught up in light painting and HDRs haha.
