IUCN International Union for Conservation of Nature organized a seminar on climate changes and threats to environment at commissioner house Loralai on 17th Nov 2009. Commissioner Zhob Division Hyder Ali presided over the seminar. Seminar was attended by large number of District Nazims’, DCO’s, Officers and journalists.

Program Manager IUCN Zabardast Khan Bangash and District Coordinator IUCN Killa Saifullah Yahya Musakhail briefed the participants in detail concerning the aims and objectives of the workshop and also about the efficiency and IUCN work inside Balochistan.

Zabardast Khan Bangash answered various questions posed by the participants.

The participants lauded the services of IUCN for creating awareness.

Balochistan is an arid, largely mountainous province of Pakistan. It endures frequent spells of drought, flash floods and earthquakes. Though underdeveloped, Balochistan is rich in biodiversity and natural resources. Wild variations in physical features and climate have produced diverse landscapes, ecosystems and habitats that are important as sources of livelihood and national and global heritage.

Misplaced priorities, inappropriate perceptions and evaluations, and lack of integrated and holistic approach towards problems have made the environment a rather intricate issue in Balochistan. Whereas three million afghan refugees have intensified the effect of natural factors of environmental degradation, imperfect governance structures, insufficient stakeholders’ participation and defective incentive systems have exacerbated the rate of degradation and its complexity. Resultantly, rangeland degradation, dichotomy of water scarcity and inefficient use, loss of forests, wildlife, habitats, and biodiversity, and increased level of pollution are some of the priority issues.

In order to address the environmental problems and a host of other related issues in the province, a conservation strategy was prepared with the technical and financial assistance of IUCN and the Royal Netherlands Embassy (RNE), respectively. The Government of Balochistan approved and adopted the Balochistan Conservation Strategy (BCS) in 2000. BCS was formulated through a consultative process across the province that involved government, academia, the private sector, civil society organizations and local communities. BCS is both a guideline and an action agenda for development. It integrates social, economic and ecological issues; proposes a way forward; sets out challenges and realistic recommendations; and identifies the actions to be taken together by the government, the private sector and civil society.

Following the BCS approval and adoption by the Government of Balochistan, it became important to maintain the momentum generated through the BCS process, to continue providing the much-needed neutral interface between civil society and government-run departments, and to assist in capacity building and institutional strengthening for BCS implementation. The Balochistan Program emerged in this context. The Balochistan program (March 2002-Feb 2007), funded by RNE, aims at improving the quality of life of people through strengthening the institutional and human capacity in the province for sustainable and equitable use of natural resources. While poverty alleviation and gender sensitivity are the cross cutting themes, the program works, through different kinds of means and partnerships, on knowledge management, empowerment and governance in the Forest, Water and Rangeland sectors of the province. While working in Gawadar and Killa Saifullah districts of the province, the program also aims at working on some innovative water related projects.

The Creatable World dolls are REALLY cute and fun to play with.

My only complaint is that the waist isn't jointed which limits posability a little. The wigs are also a little wonky.

- The mix-and-match outfits are awesome!

- The posability is really good

- They stand by themselves if they're wearing shoes.

Created Pigeon Art March 2024 Pencil

This is her favorite activity in when we homeschool her sister.

After a back and forth battle in the courts to decide the fate of the center for graffiti culture known as 5 Pointz, in a controversial move, the owners decide to paint over most of the art on display at the site pending any further litigation. The cover up took place in the dead of night to avoid more conflict. The official word is that it was done to spare the artists the pain of seeing their work at the end of a wrecking ball but that excuse seems flimsy. A recent ruling favored the owners being allowed to start demolition as soon as the paperwork and planning is done. This was taken at the candlelight vigil on the night of the day that the whitewashing took place.

Title: Cave Textures

Teacher: Stephanie Keeling

Theme: Conservation

Materials: fabric, markers, puff paint, sequins and hot glue. We cut out pieces and glued them down. we had to color with markers a whole bunch. We mixed our colors together to make it look more like real life.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, we are friends and make art in the library.

About: These were made by a kindergarten and Preschool student - Hence the description below. We made a cave with lots of rocks. we used fabric to make the feel of rocks and glue them on. we thought there must be a little river in the cave for animals to drink. We made a door hole to run out of the cave if a bear lived inside. Bears like trees. There are pretty ribbons on there to make the tiny mountains and volcanoes on the ceilings and floor. Some are very tall. They are spikey spikes. water drips off the ceiling volcanoes. We need flashlights to go in the dark cave. If we see a bear we run out.

Today I created an 80" by 22" puzzle as part of our building incentive for safety month. This is what it looked like before I cut the puzzle pieces. Can you find my kite? The kids will get to put up a puzzle piece for every 50 safety tickets we earn as a building until the puzzle is complete and we discover what our prize is going to be. So shhhhh...don't give it away guys. :)

The B Bond Warehouse was a Bonded warehouse serving Bristol Harbour.

It dates from 1908. It was designed by the Docks Committee engineer, and built by William Cowlin and Sons. It is made from reinforced concrete, with the ground floor in black brick with a low plinth and patent red bricks, blue engineering bricks, Pennant stone steps, terracotta details and a Welsh slate roof. The open plan building was created in two equal parts separated by central spine wall. It is nine storeys high and has an 18-window range. It was the first major building in Britain to use Edmond Coignet's reinforced concrete system.

The two halves of the building are now used as the Bristol Record Office and the Create Centre.

I was only away from Curtin University for 3 days, but while I was Hayley Welsh painted this new friend just outside my building. I think I'll keep him! ❤️
