Title: What a Park Means to Me: Inspired by Artist Keith Haring

Teacher: Mrs. Weiss

Theme: What does a park mean to you?

Materials and techniques: Marker and acrylic paint on raw canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes.

About: In order to incorporate our unit on cartooning, I decided to have my students create works using the style of Artist Keith Haring. They learned about the artist and his work and how his work was displayed in public places in order to send a message. We then discussed the National Parks, why they are important and why conservation of all parks is important. Then, using the theme, "What does a park mean to you?" students drew themselves in the style of Keith Haring doing what they love to do at the park. The overall message they came up with is to show that parks are an important place to get outside and spend time exercising and playing with friends, family and, of course, their pets.

Create a magical, cinematic animation of a great horned owl gliding silently down a narrow cobblestone street lined with blooming rose bushes and ivy-covered stone cottages. Warm lantern light glows through golden glass, illuminating drifting petals and casting soft highlights across the owl’s detailed feathers. Add gentle evening mist, subtle wingbeats, and warm ambient sparkles floating in the air. The camera follows the owl’s smooth flight as it weaves between lanterns and flowers, bringing a sense of wonder and quiet enchantment to the scene.

Volunteer for the Visayans Community Program Coordinator Wimwim Canayong models the newest product created by Laura's Craft - a school bag.

For the last years, Laura's Craft, a craft based livelihood project for low income residents has created school bags for VFV's Sponsored Children and Dumpsite Children. Not only does this provide a welcomed source of income for the group, but also means that VFV can keep the purchase of their school bags 'In house'.

Created for the IWG / Rocketworld "Humans Beware" show on April 10th!

Vespbear was your typical robot bear, waging war against the Human Resistance force just like a good robot bear should. One evening, after a long and satisfying day crushing the skulls of men, he was on his final patrol when a group of fiendishly devious humans lead him into a minefield... Blown apart and with his head caved in, he was able to drag himself out of the dangerzone before going offline.

On re-initialisation, he found that he had been rebuilt with the help of an old Vespa and had been give an external robobrain with upgraded visual sensors! Vespbear the recon unit was born, hell bent on scoping out enemy positions and minefields and making sure this could never happen to another proud robot warrior. Just don't send him up stairs.

Gavin Glenney, fish biologist with FWS, uses a microtome to create transparent slivers of fish, eel, and other specimens. The histology capabilities at the Lamar Fish Health Center allow biologists to encase specimens in wax, shave them into thin slivers, then dye and place the specimen on a slide for disease analysis.
