I've been volunteering this week with Camp Create-Ability to help students on the autism spectrum learn how to make short movies. Today the students were rehearsing their scripts with some of the costume and prop elements that will be in their movies. This chicken may or may not be in one of the movies.

Womensphere’s Annual Fall Summit brought together over 200 diverse leaders and emerging leaders across sectors, including executives, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, artists, student leaders, and leaders from civil society. Convened on the day before the 2016 US national elections, we were thrilled to be able to come together in celebration and strength, to share, discuss, ideate, and collaborate on creating the future to accelerate the advancement of women in all fields.
We were excited to honor Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman Carla Harris with the Womensphere Global Leadership Award for her powerful and creative vision, her longstanding commitment to empowering women and youth of color, and more than a dozen other great reasons. We were happy to bring together ground-breaking innovators, executives, educators, artists, and leaders creating change for women around the world – to launch some very important initiatives. Join the Krewe du Belge's Second Line* and their fanfare tour of downtown jazz cafes.
Dress up, and go to the pedestrian area of ??the Brussels-City Center which will host the very first Second Line* Jazz New Orleans in Brussels.
With the musicians of Krewe du Belge, accompanied by the brilliant brass band NO Pareto (Ghent).
Journey :
5 p.m.: gathering at the Dolle Mol Rue des Eperonniers 52, 1000 Brussels Created in 1969, the Dolle Mol cafe is a historic place in the Belgian libertarian milieu. There's a jazz jam scheduled there every Friday.
6 p.m.: gathering for the Second Line* in front of our national Manneken Pis > Grand Place > Galeries St Hubert > Jeanneke Pis > ...
7 p.m.: Gathering at Cafe Roskam Rue de Flandre 9, 1000 Brussels The Roskam is a cafe known for its beers and gin and tonics, its warm atmosphere and its good program of jazz concerts on Sunday evenings.
8 p.m.: gathering at L'Archiduc Rue Antoine Dansaert 6, 1000 Brussels L'Archiduc is an emblematic place of Brussels nightlife. It was in 1953 that the Belgian Jazz pioneer Stan Brenders made it an Art Deco Jazz Club.
9 p.m.: gathering at the cafe Metteko Boulevard Anspach 88, 1000 Brussels Jam Jazz at the Metteko cafe, a historic and popular cafe in the center of Brussels.
Free event, children admitted, another way to discover another Jazz, festive and folkloric, but also all those cafes that bring live music to life in Brussels.
Dress code : Carnaval *What is a Second Line? This is a New Orleans brass band parade tradition. The 'Main Line' (first line) is made up of musicians who march while playing. The 'Second Line' is made up of the audience following the musicians enjoying the music, singing and dancing. This Second Line audience has a very important role, they are part of the show. Ideally, they are disguised, made up and wave umbrellas or white handkerchiefs. We count on you.

The #GMDifference with DJ Ben Shipway + #DJJamesM at Boulevard Gardens From Katie & Simon: "Honestly could not have imagined the service and experience with G&M going better. Leading up to wedding dealing with Ben put our mind at ease 100%. There were moments in the night we didn't even think about having music to accompany and if it wasn't for Ben bringing it to our attention and recommending certain styles of music and songs to match the moment. When our wedding came around Ben was the first of all the vendors I saw at the venue and had a quick chat to see how I was feeling about the day, it was a nice touch. We had some music playing in the courtyard for canapes and the music was perfectly suited to the moment, and set at perfect volume to talk and still here the background tunes. When my wife and I made our entrance we were blown away by the lighting effects they took the room to another level and were exactly what we had hoped for and more (10 up lights and monogram). The monogram in particular was stunning. All through the night Ben was playing great music and it created an amazing atmosphere, we had left the music selection (Other than key moments) up to Ben and we could not have been happier 10/10 job. We also had the dancing on a cloud effect for our first dance and it was also a stunning addition, we had so many comments about it and the lighting effects. Once the formalities were finished Ben was great in setting the mood and getting people up to dance, I had actually been worried that it wouldn't be the case but he was able to get good numbers on the floor all night. But for me personally the stand out moment of using G&M and Ben was the very last moment of the night when the reception was finished and the final song had been played, my wife and I had planned a sparkler exit that got pushed back to venue closing time because we were having such a blast. This took place outside and just as we got ready to walk through there was Ben with a handheld speaker playing the last song that we had requested for us to walk through all our friends and family to (a friend put through a request for last song and Ben asked us if it was alright which we agreed). For me that was the above and beyond moment that I don't think you would get elsewhere. Cannot reccomend both G&M and Ben enough if I were planning again all over they would be my first and only choice for entertainment and lighting." #WeddingDJ #WeddingLighting #CustomMonogram #Uplighting #DancingonaCloud ift.tt/2OhlDcP

Our Maker Art class created a Haunted House in fall 2016. In this after-school workshop at the Lycée Français, students ages 7 to 10 built a fantasy world together, with magical creatures, ghosts, witches and other spooky characters.
We combined arts and technology to bring their creations to life: each student created their own room in our haunted house, and animated their characters with motors and simple mechanisms, adding lights and sounds to tell their stories.
Students started by designing their rooms and characters, and built them in their own cardboard ‘wonderboxes.’ We then asked them to sketch up their individual visions of the Haunted House and combined them together. Children worked in teams to build some of the more complex features: a clock tower, an elevator and an animated graveyard zombie, all powered with Arduino boards.
I’m very grateful to my associate teachers for this class: Sarah Brewer and Edward Janne were amazing partners and empowered our students to create their own interactive art, helping them bring their ideas to life in a playful way that made learning more fun.
We taught this class weekly at the Lycée Français in Sausalito, with 8 school students in grades 3, 4 and 5. We met every Thursday at 3:30pm, from September 15 to December 8, 2016. Many of the materials we used in this class were prepared at Tam Makers, our makerspace in Mill Valley.

A fairy-tale panto with a Salfordian twist, the chance to film a Father’s Day message in a real TV news studio and footage of the first film appearance by comedy and singing legend George Formby are just a few of the free attractions at the University of Salford’s Create at Salford Festival this weekend (Saturday 15 to Sunday 16 June).
The Festival will showcase the talents of more than 800 final year arts and media students, with a huge range of performances and exhibitions, combining the best in student art and design, performing arts, music, computer gaming, animation, TV news broadcasting and much more.
