I can't give you any advice but this: to go into yourself and see how deep the place is from which your life flows; at its source you will find the answer to the question whether you must create. Accept that answer, just as it is given to you, without trying to interpret it. Perhaps you will discover that you are called to be an artist. Then take the destiny upon yourself, and bear it, its burden and its greatness, without ever asking what reward might come from outside. For the creator must be a world for himself and must find everything in himself and in Nature, to whom his whole life is devoted.
~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters To A Young Poet ~

Similarities create friendships while differences hold them together.
Photographically speaking, I've been in a dry spell. But my friend Ella mentioned she'd like a photo of a red veggie to add to a collection she has on her kitchen wall. Motivated by a last-minute invitation to join them for drinks on Christmas Eve, I grabbed the dried red peppers that were hanging in the pantry, placed them on an image of a texture that I had resized and printed, and took a few shots. Afterwards, when I was processing them I thought, hmmmm these remind me of old friends. Hence, the search for a quote about friends and their differences and similarities. I got lucky, not just in finding the perfect saying, but also in having such good friends and having peppers to shoot.
To all my friends, best wishes for 2010, and thank you!

Fauxgo is a blog dedicated to documenting fake logos that have appeared in favorite Hollywood films.
Check out their compilation of fake brand logos and identities created for the film industry to use in movies. The effort is sort of an attempt by Hollywood to get away with using popular logos and brand-identities - that way they can still instill the "feeling" without having to pay the brand for royalties (or perhaps the brand wouldn't let them use the logo in the first place).
If it was in fact a true guerrilla marketing effort (by becoming so close to the original logo that it attracted press) it would probably be deemed a pretty wise idea. Nonetheless, these logos are still pretty neat and may serve as some creative inspiration for your next guerrilla marketing campaign.
Check out all fictitious logos at the Fauxgo.com website. Which are your favorites? Are there any made-up logos that were featured in movies that is missing?

The CA community gathered on October 2 to celebrate this long-awaited new chapter in CA’s history at the beginning of the Centennial Campaign. “Launching the building of this vital project a year ahead of schedule, we wouldn’t be here without your enthusiasm and support,” Hardy said. “On behalf of everyone at CA, thank you for your belief in this school and its future.”

The Japanese Garden has been created in the early 20th century by the
owner of the estate Clingendael, baroness Marguerite Mary Van Brienen
(1871-1939), better known as Lady Daisy. She visited Japan in 1911, and
became so impressed by the Japanese garden art that she decided to lay
out a garden in Japanese style on her estate in Holland. She shipped to
Holland several stone lanterns, a waterbasin and some bridges, and
probably some plants.
Except for the planting the original garden layout of the undulating pond,
the meandering brooks, the winding paths, the omnipresent stones is still
in its original form. Throughout the years the garden has been well
maintained by the present owner, the city of The Hague. It is the only
Japanese garden of that period in the Netherlands and is considered of
high historical value.

365/365 (12.31.2011)
“But, if you have nothing at all to create, then perhaps you create yourself.” ~ Carl Jung
What an extraordinary journey into self-discovery, creativity and seeing things in an entirely new way this 365 project has been. It has changed my life, for the better, in so many profound and wonderful ways. Heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported me on this journey - I'd never have made it without you.
Happy 365! Happy New Year 2012!

This is a visual journal I'm making as I work through the book "Your Heart's Desire" by Sonia Choquette. I've decided to work differently than I usually do--I'm "prepping" the pages before I do the journaling instead of doing it all at the same time.
I made this little cheer up gift for my friend who was having a rough day. I used a Starbucks sleeve and elsiecake's ghost world paper to decorate. It definitely put a smile on her face!! ;)
