On a miserable damp morning US Army S160 class, 6046 steams its way away from Paignton whilst hauling the 10.00 Queens Park-Kingswear service.

Cranmer Courts was very badly damaged in the quakes that unexpectedly hit Christchurch. Originally big photographs were put into the holes where the doors and windows were, but now these massive pictures have been put across the boarded up ends of the buildings to keep them alive in the minds of the people of Christchurch.
The project was thought up by Mike Hewson.

( City trip in Bruges.
Bruges (Brugge), the capital of West Flanders in northwest Belgium, is distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center's Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views. )

The original images were of an installation at The Mattress Factory art gallery in Pittsburgh. See the first comment below for an image of the installation in a mirrored room called "Infinity Dots."
I cut the photos apart, duplicated and rearranged the parts, changed their opacity, overlapped parts, & adjusted colors to create this image.

Enjoying an afternoon with creations for your dolls is awesome. Creating together with a friend is just the greatest thing to do : )!!!
Ilka (illidolls) and I had another whatsapp supported sweet sunday sewing session <3. Lukas got a shirt for his new pants and Tulabelle (she will be renamend when she opens up a bit) got a shirt for her saturday's sewing session pants.
Henna joined them to model her super comfy jersey dress with pockets.

After all the color pieces have been added and the blob reheated, I used a huge tweezer to pull and twist the outer layer of glass into a series of streaks and swirls. Then the next step is to reheat and smooth things out. [more tomorrow]

My first deep sky mosaic made up of 3 panels joined to create a single image covering an area of the night sky nearly 15 degrees wide by 10 degrees high.
Objects visible include the Southern Cross (Crux) which should be recognisable by anyone in the Southern Hemisphere. NGC4755, the Jewel Box, is a cluster of bright stars just to the left of the left star in the cross. In the bottom right of the image the red cloud is hydrogen gas in IC2944 also known as the Running Chicken Nebula. Directly above this the bright cluster of stars is NGC3766, the Pearl Cluster.
The Jewel Box and Pearl Clusters were identified in 1752 by French astronomer Nicholas Louis de Lacaille who travelled to South Africa to catalogue the Southern night sky during 1751 and 1752. The Running Chicken Nebula (IC 2944) was first catalogued in 1834 by Englishman John Herschel during a four year trip to South Africa made to catalogue and describe over 1700 night sky objects using a large reflector telescope with a 20 foot (roughly 6 metre) focal length.
This image was taken on 21 February 2025 from Bortle 2 skies in Coalgate in Canterbury, New Zealand, using a Samyang 135mm lens, ASI2600MC camera and CEM40 mount without guiding. Each of the 3 panels were 84 images of 30 seconds stacked in DSS, then GraXpert, combined in PS, and final edit in Siril. The second image was named using the nova.astrometry.net site.

I shot the photo a few years ago leaving Long Beach harbor on a whale watching boat. The photos of the shoreline were the best part of the trip. Barely saw one whale and started to get seasick as the boat bounced around waiting for the damn thing to resurface.
