Once again, Joan and I headed up onto the Golf Course for an afternoon walk. We feel sorry for golfers who are not permitted to use the Golf Course due to pandemic restrictions, but we are enjoying the freedom of wandering there and enjoying its beauty. In one garden plot that we seldom visit, we were pleased to discover grape hyacinths in bloom.
U.S. service members with Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa lift a water obstacle out of the water during the French Desert Commando Course (FDCC) at the Le centre d'entraînement au combat de Djibouti (CECAD) in Arta, Djibouti, Sept. 13, 2021. During FDCC, U.S. forces serve under a French battalion commander and are evaluated on mountain confidence, knot tying, night obstacle courses, aquatic obstacle courses, and battle maneuver tactics.

In the past several years, a significant momentum has been created on the importance of access to justice in ensuring equitable and inclusive development. Against this background, and with their complementary exposure to practice and theory, the CEU’s School of Public Policy (SPP), the Open Society Justice Initiative and Namati, in collaboration with the South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (SAILS) at BRAC University, will organize an executive course that will offer an opportunity for leading thinkers amongst the development community with a range of perspectives to come together to learn from each other and identify strategies to strengthen justice and development planning and programming.

While trying to avoid another ring-necked duck who was trying to steal his food, this ring-neck swam directly over a lesser scaup as she was surfacing, leaving her rather startled but none the worse for wear. He held onto his prize and was able to eat it at last.
