This is the Caldwell County courthouse in Lockhart, TX, home of a few of the most famous bbq places in Texas. This courthouse was built in 1894, and is one of the more ornate ones in the state.

A family started their travels from this hall in County Durham village named after them. Not sure where they ended up.

I've had this church on my visit list for a while but underestimated how photogenic it would be.

Obviously the wheat field is going to make this view one that doesn't last long so glad I found it when I did.

The header on a 1911 bank calendar.

The bank was located in Emporium, PA at the wye where East Allegheny and East Third Street split. I could find very little history on this building, other than it being built around 1908. I don't think that it was there for more than 20 years. (My guess would be possibly destruction by fire?) As a child in the 1950's, living across the street, this lot was occupied by a wood framed Mobil filling station. In the sixties it exploded due to leaking underground gasoline tanks. It was rebuilt with cement blocks and remained a Mobil station into the 70's. After that it was a machine shop for maybe 20 years and presently a building contractor's warehouse/shop.

Built in 1962 in the Modern style, the Columbia County Courthouse faces northeast and is a three story buff colored brick and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of the city. The northeast front has a dark purplish colored panel above the entrance. Purplish panels are above and below the windows on the second and third stories.

This 1971 bridge carries US 17 across the Intracoastal Waterway, between the Grand Strand and the mainland of South Carolina. I can't say I hate this bridge, especially since the SCDOT allowed the old swing bridge (where this shot was taken) to remain in place. The haunched center span gives it some character, the supports have a distinctive shape to them, and the light blue paint (which is free of rust) blends in nicely with the sky. I used the bridge to cross over to North Myrtle Beach.
