From 3,000 foot up the rest of the county looks a bit, erm, flat?

Muskegon Chronicle employee Jim Boes, center, shot a feral hog that he estimates to be between 400 and 500 pounds, left, that was 6'4" long from rump to the end of her snout. Jim Boes said, "we feel safer for the animals on the farm," because the same feral sow charged the family Labrador about two years ago and threatened his wife Tina Boes, far left, when she tried to protect their dog. Photographed with the dead hogs at their home in North Muskegon County Monday April 20, 2009. Jim Boes also shot three of the large sows offspring that he estimated to each weigh about 150 pounds, Boes used a 7mm-08 to shoot the large sow and one of her offspring and .22 to shoot the other two.

Prestonsburg, KY (Floyd County)

Prestonsburg is a small home rule-class city in and the county seat of Floyd County, Kentucky, United States. It is in the eastern part of the state in the valley of the Big Sandy River. The population was 3,255 at the time of the 2010 census, down from 3,612 at the 2000 census.

The area was part of the 100,000-acre grant in the early 1700s to the family of John Preston's wife, born Elizabeth Patton, which he administered on her behalf. The grant was intended to permit British colonization beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains, but subsequent French and Indian resistance and a reversal of British policy limited its impact. The land was not settled until John Spurlock of Montgomery County, Virginia, arrived in 1791. He laid out the town of "Preston's Station" in 1797. It became the seat of Floyd County upon its formation in 1799 and was formally established in 1818. The post office was known as "Floyd Court House" from its establishment in 1816 until the late 1820s, when it was renamed "Prestonsburg".

On January 10, 1862, nearby Middle Creek was the scene of the largest battle of the Civil War to occur in eastern Kentucky. The town was also the site of one of the worst school bus disasters in American history on February 28, 1958. (1)

The original registration with Luton was XXE132H but the bus was not used as it arrived weeks before the Corporation sold out to United Counties. UC didn't want it either and it passed unused to Eastern Counties who registered it themselves.

Near to the cliffs of Moher, on a hill about 150 meters (600) feet above sea level, is Poulnabrone, an ancient "portal tomb", dating from somewhere between 4000 and 3000 BC. You can read a lot more about it and get a much deeper discussion than I can give here and at other similar web pages:

www.ancientireland.org/poulnabrone/

WOW. We could get right up close to this and there was a wonderful spacious "car park" at the site which makes it no wonder this site is visited and photographed so often. Of course Poulnabrone is right smack on the "burren landscape so we could explore and experience a bit of that feature as well.

Views of the tomb portal from different sides. I imagine that originally you could enter an underground chamber through the stones but that is not possible now.
