Wooden cosmetic boxes
The lids of boxes attached at the back open to reveal compartments for cosmetics. The box could be secured by winding twine around the two knobs at the front.
The elaborate decorations of cosmetic boxes were intended to imitate more expensive boxes inlaid with ebony, ivory, and perhaps cedar or mahogany.

WEEK 38 – Carriage Crossing Macy’s, Set II
As we make our way off to the left – back to the jewelry and cosmetics departments in the center of the store – we land upon the next major style of ceiling and lighting that Parisian installed: here, a completely smooth drop ceiling – no ceiling tiles to be found here! – joined with a very unique mix of interspersed wide and short lights, the wide ones with light bars, the short ones with individual spotlights (not dissimilar to ones found in the bases of the hanging pendant lights we saw two weeks ago). Not only does the lighting feel fancy (probably mostly by sheer virtue of being new and unique, more so than actually being fancy, but you get the point), I also very much like the visual effect created by the interesting, maybe-even-irregular-in-places (?) pattern.
Besides the lighting, also of note in this shot is the elevator bank – that box you see there on the right, to the left of the frosted-glass-paneled fitting room – as well as the men’s fragrance department, essentially the only non-women’s department to be found downstairs. To me, the placement makes well enough sense, as it’s common to have men’s fragrances simply sold alongside the much larger women’s fragrance selection; but I do recognize that some department stores may have men’s fragrances in a separate area, in a perhaps more appropriate home near menswear. Is that arrangement common? And which do y’all think Parisian should have gone for here?

A vintage Japanese postcard, inscribed: “We got this in a tiny little town on the island of Kauai [in Hawaii] – you must guess what it means.” It is an advertisement for keshō (make-up), the kanji (化粧) literally mean ‘transformative cosmetics’, so it shows a geiko (geisha) transforming into a cat as she applies her make-up.

Eu achava que não existisse algo pior do que esmaltes cujos nomes são números, mas claro que existe: esmaltes SEM NOME.
Pesquisei muito antes de vir aqui postar, pq eu queria postar esse lindinho com seu nome, mas vi que o problema não foi minha inaptidão em achar o nome no vidro, essa marca realmente não coloca o nome dos esmaltes impressos nos vidrinhos. A coisa louca disso tudo é que, ao que tudo indica, eles possuem displays bonitinhos nas lojas e, nesses displays, os nomes aparecem. O.o bizarrice
Enfim, ele é um teal suuuuper bonito e pigmentado, qualidade excelente. Comprei num balaio de uma loja de roupas qualquer. Dizem que os fabricantes são os mesmos que fabricam os Color Club, então provavelmente exista um CC com essa mesma cor hahaha
As gringas super criativas nomearam seus Cosmetic Arts de formas super originais, mas como minha criatividade se assemelha com a da Nabi, eu chamarei de teal e ponto final.
Secou meio ensebadinho e eu taquei TC, pois odeio acabamento ensebado. A cor não ficou fiel, não fiz ~tratamento nenhum nela. O dia ta chuvoso e nublado por aqui mesmo.

Yay, now I have all six cosmetic sets :) The other perfume bottle and the box are missing in the picture, I'll have to redo it some other time. Anyway, I'm glad that the petit cosmetics collection is now complete.
Tastefully modified Gallardo, just about has carbon EVERYTHING! Interior's all carbon, rear carbon spoiler, and some more :P Callisto's look great on this :D
So, yes. Went to the city on Saturday, saw not much stuff, came home :S Bit of a disappointment, never mind...
