Strobist Info: Two speedlights used; first- camera right, in front of model and bounced off a silver umbrella, second- behind model and shot through a Lightblaster with a custom cut out and purple gel inside. Yongnuo flashes (YN 560II-slave-in lightblaster, YN560III-triggered) and wireless trigger (RF-602).
I hate having to buy cosmetics at a place like Walmart. With several big outings lining up last week, I was out of some of the essentials. With no time for a trip into KC, I took my life into my own hands and ventured into the MAGA hat wearing abyss in my redneck little town, lol.
A Burmese woman wears thanaka cream on her face. It is made by grinding the bark, wood or roots from the thanaka tree with water into a paste.
Apart from it's cosmetic uses, it gives a cooling sensation and provides some protection from the sun.

(items include red under eyes, dark circles under eyes (which look great on male avies), thick liners, under liner smudge and lid gloss)
Egyptian women had a significant interest in beauty since ancient times. They had black and green eyeliners that were stored in pots of different shapes and materials, and also they used the red tint as blushes. They were very familiar with oils and aromatic fats and carefully stored them in elegant bird or other animal-shaped pots. She also took care of her hair appearance and therefore used combs for styling and hair pins for fixing in front of mirrors made of metals.

Wooden cosmetic boxes
The lids of boxes attached at the back open to reveal compartments for cosmetics. The box could be secured by winding twine around the two knobs at the front.
The elaborate decorations of cosmetic boxes were intended to imitate more expensive boxes inlaid with ebony, ivory, and perhaps cedar or mahogany.

I'd like to say that I don't succumb to the marketing...... but it is what it is.

A vintage Japanese postcard, inscribed: “We got this in a tiny little town on the island of Kauai [in Hawaii] – you must guess what it means.” It is an advertisement for keshō (make-up), the kanji (化粧) literally mean ‘transformative cosmetics’, so it shows a geiko (geisha) transforming into a cat as she applies her make-up.
This store was opened in August 1965 as an O'Neil's Department store. Afterwards, there were a series of name changes; to May Company, to Kaufmann's, and finally to Macy's. This store is still operating as of 2017, despite being located in a largely vacant strip mall (with a Meijer store proposed). The store itself is free-standing, which is rare for a Macy's. Also, being only 83,000 square feet is small for a Macy's store. Most interestingly though, this store still has much of the 1960s design inside with two chandeliers, a vintage department store ceiling, and wood cosmetic counters.
