Unusual to see sitting out in the open, usually hiding in the trees, sneeky bird, I chased this one out of the bushes and he landed here for a short moment.
One of the most colorful sunsets I've seen in Florida. The sky was deep purple and violet, reflected nicely in the lake. Canon 7D and EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM on tripod
No he didn't do anything wrong. He just wanted to see what I was doing and he was so far under the desk he had to peek out from under my keyboard!
Just now in my yard! I heard a scuffle, robins mobbing, glimpsed a larger bird with 2 passerines in pursuit... Looks like this Cooper's Hawk nabbed a fledgling. Still alive in the pictures, not for long. Was able to snap a few pictures from just inside my door.

The day was bleak and dreary....mid-winter bird count was fairly slow so feeder watching was the best place to be. The Cooper's hawk that has been frequenting the feeders spent quite some time looking over the menu.
Coopers Hawk in the water dish on our wall, from about 15'. It's very low entrance to the backyard was from an angle that he could not see into the yard until on that wall - but was timed perfectly for me. We didn't move so hawk got a few drinks and left on his own schedule. In Tucson, Arizona in the Sonoran Desert. Many more Cooper's and other hawks in Photostream and/or Raptors album.
"Our dog Cooper recently started having joint pain when we would go for walks, so we decided to try out the orthopedic bed from Big Barker. He doesn't like change, so at first he laid on the ground next to it, not too sure what this new bed was for. By the end of the night, he was loving his new bed!"
