Mr(s). Coopers Hawk parked in my yard again the other morning. No other birdies were in sight for quite some time! This time (s)he decided to show me it's belly feathers ... and glare 👀 at me 😂. After I captured his/her portrait I invited him/her to leave and try someone else's yard! Based on the blood on it's talons and beak it had had a meal in the recent past.

I had been working very hard (4-5 cold weather visits) to London Landing, Richmond, trying to capture a good image of some Red-breasted Mergansers, but the males stayed frustratingly at the far side of the channel. But there were a few other rewards for my efforts, including this Cooper's, which took a position in a small tree just west of the pier.

The large number of birds in our backyard has drawn two hawks into the adjacent trees today. This morning a juvenile was chasing sparrows and using my patio chair as a perch. This afternoon while I was taking some shots of the regulars, this handsome adult swooped in. Of course, the regulars disappeared in a hurry.
