♪ mood ♪: Fight The Fade - "Cool Kids" (Echosmith Cover)

Lightnings are so cool! It reminds us, that whatever we do, it is nothing compared to force of nature. To capture one in the frame, that's always a lot of fun. I like the purple light that comes with it.

The flower is from my garden and the natural piece of aquamarine it's leaning on is from my mineral collection. It feels like another world now, but the company I worked for used to give long service awards and when I reached the 20 year milestone I was allowed to choose a gift for myself rather than something from the limited selection of 'corporate' gifts that were shipped over from America, as had always been the case until that year. I chose this aquamarine stone, thinking I would have it made into a piece of jewellery. As you can see, I never did. In the end I decided I liked it just the way it was. It brings back lots of memories of people and places. :)

For this week's Smile on Saturday group theme, Gemstones.

Every time I go to the Hawley/Lake Park area, I hope I get to see at least one loaded coal train working up the grade. It used to be pretty much a sure thing, but this was the only one we saw all day. It didn't disappoint, though, as it roared through the cut east of Hawley.

Thanks to everyone for visits , comments , awards and invitations, I appreciate your feedback very much

Another shot from our Skye trip last weekend, this time a panorama of the Cuillin Hills taken from the side of a very popular road on the island.

ice balls formed when the sun's rays liquified blobs of snow caught in the bush stems. Then the cold air froze the melt into ice before it could leak away.

This is a combo photo of a himmingbird I shot a day or so ago and the moon last night. I don't know what inspired me to combine them since himmingbirds don't fly at night.

Only a couple weeks removed from snow, ice, and sub-zero temps, this male Northern Cardinal was enjoying a drink in 70 degree temps in my yard in NE Oklahoma.

I don't know. It was a stupid choice for a title. I thought the central figure was pretty cool and just went with it.

I'm melting.......a record-setting week ahead with triple digit temps and a predicted high point of 114 here in Spokane. Never seen anything like this severe weather in the Pacific Northwest. With little relief coming for next couple weeks, at least. Gonna be a loooong scorching summer.

I needed a crisp, cool memory to chill me down some. Was so refreshing looking up the Lake Louise outlet on this stormy, snowy day. Wish I could step back into it.

ps: I've got several projects ahead and will reluctantly not be on flickr as much for the next few months. I'll miss the beauty and all of you.

May your week be comfortable and wonderful!

I spent three days in Arlington Texas during an ice storm... freezing rain... whatever. Special Thanks to Howard Johnson for letting me crash on the couch.

I wasn't sure if I should try this shot or not on a bright sunny day, but with the sun hitting the west side of the old mill, not trying wasn't an option. The tones are cool as Wisconsin & Southern train T4R throttles up and departs Palmyra after making a crew change. That big ol' tree needs to fall down too.
