Crocodiles can be often seen with their jaws wide open. They open their jaws to cool themselves because they don’t have sweat glands and to avoid overheating.

Monday was a lovely dawn in the New Forest. The cool tones in this shot were a real change from the earlier fiery start. Lee .6 grad
Een winters plaatje als verkoeling van de warme periode.

A winter picture as a cooling down of the warm period.

A good place to cool down on a hot summer day. The land of fairies and elves is not far away from my hometown. :-)
Abandoned grain elevator, Buffalo, N.Y., take three — light source hidden behind the columns. This one is my favorite of the three, due to the silhouette glow created by the backlighting.
Dogs seem to always find comfortable spots. On hot days, Comet has figured that he can plop his belly down on the cool kitchen floor next to the refrigerator. This way he can catch the north-south breeze through the house and the dump of cold air everytime we open the refrigerator. Have a wonderful weekend.
Near to home a track where we often walk our dog, it`s peaceful and we rarely meet anyone else. On this morning it had been -5 overnight with a clear sky so there was a nice coating of frost everywhere, the ground was like concrete unlike this morning when it is back to being a bog.
A Common Goldeneye drake at 20 degrees below freezing is enjoying the water that's at least 20 degrees warmer than the surrounding air :-)
A nice drawing at the historical Travessa do Comércio street.

I know this is a bit odd for me, but let me explain...
I had packed up and was heading toward the car. It had been a rather boring sunset, which was now over, and only the last glimmers of light were left on the horizon. A White-faced Heron suddenly landed on a dead tree right in front of me. I so wished it was still light out, instead of almost night - this would have been a great portrait shot. Instead, I went for the silhouette, and snapped a few before he took off.
I processed in RAW, cooled it a bit, and added 'vegnetting', just for the effect, bumped the contrast and a couple other things, and ended up with this. I thought I'd share it, just for fun.
