These days, even in the morning, it was too hot for a pleasant walk. In the forest, however, it looked quite different. These big trees are wonderful cooling machines. They evaporate huge amounts of water through their leaves and give off evaporative cooling to their surroundings. We should take good care of them.
A natural pool on the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River in Yosemite National Park. In June, with a bit of melting snow still feeding the river, this might have been a shock to the senses if you jumped in!

There were flowering blackberry bushes near the little waterfall on the River Avon in Malmesbury, so I carefully went into the thorny bushes to be able to capture both the waterfall and the flowers.

It's one thing getting a photo of what they look like.
It's another to get a photo of what they are = cool.
A slightly lower than eye level angle brought forth their strong presence. The cool was all their own. All while trying to frame them in that background glass reflection.

This is a result of a challenge with some fellow photographers. The project was to take a photo of something we think is cool.
Well, I brought out the glass ball and took a trip to the soccer stadium.
These vases reminded me of the cooling towers of nuclear power plants.
A picture from the beginning of April, when the first pink blooms appeared on a bush nearby. Mostly the flowers survived the snow and extreme cold nights.
