I've always enjoyed cooking, and occasionally share photos of dishes I'm particularly happy with :) I did not start cooking until I left France, but I am sure growing up there had an influence... also, I'm around good food all the time, having played music in restaurants all my life.

Fajita meat and vegetables (well, green and red peppers are technically fruit I suppose, but you know what I mean) ;)... anyway, some fajita indredients, a few minutes away from being ready to eat.

Once the caramel got to the right color, I whisked in 1 c. of heavy cream and 1 tbl. butter off the heat, then stuck in the candy thermometer and brought the mixture back up to just above soft ball stage (240°F).

Cooking up a fall meal of ratatouille. The tomatoes, green pepper, squash and basil were from our garden. The zucchini, red onions and sweet Italian chicken sausage are from Trader Joe's.

Chris attempted to make cookies on Sunday but is still very

upset that they never turn out like the ones from home. It seems

that we have no substitute for the cooking aid called Crisco,

which is a type of shortening.

 

So far we have tried Cookeen, Stork and good old butter.

A few friends and I who are members of a local group of moms came together to form a group that is all about volunteering in our community. Our first opportunity was cooking at our local Ronald McDonald House. We made chili, cornbread, and cinnamon rolls.
