When Volkswagen owners open up their cars, they really open them up! :-D
This is a beige 1965 VW convertible. Beige was a popular color at the 2009 All Aircooled Gathering in Flanders, and 1965 was a popular year. :-)

Going out to dinner with my parents in their convertible. A fav place, Mon Jin Lau, in Troy, Michigan. Their Mandarin Crispy Duck is to die for. I joke that the car needs to be my inheritance. (but I'm not kidding, srsly)
That's me in my brand spanking new 1989 Toyota Celica convertible. I was 34 in 1989 and cruising around with the top down listening to The Beach Boys. Yeah, I know. I looked like a dork pulling up next to cars with kids blasting rap music out their overpowered speakers, but nothing compared to the feeling of the wind blowing through the few hairs I had left and wailing those high pitched Brian Wilson harmonies! (Photo scanned from a Polaroid. Remember those?)
Almost 100% original, factory name for the color is "Regal Turquoise". Ladybird spent most of her life in California, but was rescued from those hippies in 2004 by yours truly.
Very low production convertible and very few remain. This car was in my family since the early 50's and I took possession of it in the late 1960's. My father and I were restoring it but I sold it in 2001 after my father passed on from cancer. It hurt to look at it so it had to go.
It did go to a great home.
