A447 went to the north end of WOLF to give things "up north" a chance to sort themselves out. Word had that M341 had lots of air problems and a few other gremlins really got Stevens Point snarled up...which then tangled Neenah up.
Here's another from last Saturday. The best thing I saw that day was the sun setting over empty tracks at Chana and I took in all the angles until the sun was gone. The full set of searchlights protect the west switch and wait on the next westbounder. August 15, 2015.
A fairly busy Saturday morning on the River sub finds both of the daily wayfreights working on the DM&E connection at the same time, with eastbound J20 switching the east end of CK siding and westbound counterpart J19 on the west end at Carlson pass.
With their pickup and setout complete, J20 eases through Tower CK back onto the mainline where they will run for just a few miles to the east side of the city to do more work there and get in the clear for Amtrak.

An old DSS&A signal control point sits in the tall grass in Sidnaw next to where the DSS&A main line ran. The line west of Sidnaw has since been pulled and turned into a ORV trail, with the east section to Nestoria being car storage for Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad.
Coming from Metsovo over Sirrako and then nearing the second Controlpoint of the race I had one of the most vivid sceneries of the Hellenic Mountain Race open up in front of me. Quite a bit more open then many of the very narrow and deep river gorges and with beautiful afternoon light I gazed over the typical „ingredients“ of the Pindus Mountains: steep, deeply forested mountain slopes, wild meandering mountain rivers with little water but wide gravel beds.
As I often do, I just spent quite a bit of time to research what exactly I was looking at there. It is the impressive summit of the Stroggoula, located in the Tzoumerka Mountain Range which is a part of the Pindus Mountains. On its flanks, the Mountain Refuge Melissourgoi is situated. Which hosted the CP2 of the Race.
Melissourgitikos is the name of the mountain river which itself is a tributary of the Kallaritikos river I crossed earlier and is used for whitewater kayaking. And Melissourgoi is greek for „Beekeepers“. How fitting as beehives were a common sight of the HMR. They would line the forest trails in dozens and dozens and you would see probably at least a hundred or even more a day.
So - how much do you liked this bit of hidden Greek trivia research making up for the lack of bikes in these photos? ;-)

IDTX SC-44 #4610 departs Chicago with a northbound Hiawatha for Milwaukee. The last PRR signals at A2 fell earlier this year; that makes CP Morgan the last PRR signal bridge left in Chicago. The replacement of these signals is in the making, so get your shots while you can.
UP C44-9W #9623 is one of the first trains to traverse IHB Main 1 after last night's snowstorm. Here it is plowing across Lincoln Avenue with the YPRBRC.
I haven't shot at Stockholm too often through the years but it's changed quite a bit since the last time. It used to be a pretty sleepy spot with widespread double track, evidence of a center siding location in the old days. With the big CTC project some years ago this location was transformed into "CP 3725". Now there are barrier walls, power switches, signals, PTC antennas along the village opting for quiet zone median barriers around the crossing. Although not as wide open as it used to be, there is still a decent westbound shot to be had.
As for the train, we first saw this one in Prairie du Chien. It was passing west through town the same time we were and we paced it along the river for a ways but I wasn't thrilled with the lighting or the power. Continuing on we made a number of non-foaming stops. At Pepin I made a quick check of ATCS noting that there was a westbounder crossing the Chippewa River. A quick stop was made at Stockholm netting the unit hopper with a mix of BNSF, UP and CP power. July 30, 2017.

A southbound manifest led by UP 5665 rolls into the yard at Eugene just after the sun has come up over the Coburg Hills to the east.
Almost at the end of the shooting, Dave (hope's walker) showed up at Lincoln Center, and gladly allowed Eva to play with the dog. He was very happy to be cuddled. I wish I had a flash for this. I am beginning to realise how a flash could help at times (or a light).
There's a specific place on the NW corner of Bryant Park. Right by the lamppost and the stairs, people stop and check their phones
The more I go there, the more people I see.
One day I may come out with an entire album about it
