Something that was bound to happen in the last few months; BNSF SD70MACs #9651 and #9653 have just finished the climb at Otis Hill with a loaded coal train destined for Michigan. Further back in the woods, the train barely maintained 5 mph as it struggled up Otis!

The close proximity of control points at the Tower 26 interlocking can lead to some up-close and personal views of signal sequences that would normally be miles apart.

Here, an eastbound train has an "Approach Diverging" across the diamonds and then a "Diverging Approach" to cross over from Main 2 to Main 1 at Carr St Jct in the distance. This is on UP's Houston Sub just north of Downtown.

The engineer of UP 6815 gives us a nice wave as it passes the south switch of Hampton, just before it crosses the Willamette River and heads into Oakridge, Oregon.

Back when the area was still full of ex-SP searchlights, two sets of back-to-back, double-headed signals stood between Tower 26 and Carr Street Jct here on the Sunset Route (called the Terminal Subdivision at the time). These signals have since been replaced by Vaders, and the red signals in the distance have been removed.

UP 2759, a nice clean GEVO, on the point of a long string of empties rolling into the Eugene Yard from Portland.

These searchlights once protected the interlocking at Tower 71 on the West Belt in north Houston. When they were installed this was a crossing of the Houston Belt & Terminal by SP's Rabbit Line, though at this point it was all owned by UP.

Construction in the distance and to the right is foreboding for these old signals; they'd be removed in less than a year.

Almost to Memphis to swap crews and continue north on the IC main toward Waterloo, IA or points there about. The solo SD70M-2 was a bit of a suprise on a brisk spring morning.

Breanne Delgado is an elemental alchemist. You can find her by the Metropolitan Museum. Those who frequently pass by will easily notice her. Her eyes are very piercing, despite being hidden behind sunglasses. Her smile is contagious. Her charisma as intese as New York.

She kindly agreed to have a few pictures of her taken.

I hope I'll run into her again and take a few more.
