John Irvine of the Florida DOT contributed this photo given to him by his grandmother, Martha Keith Irvine, showing family member Ruth Keith of Gainesville at "Keith's Bridge." Suspiciously similar to Brown's bridge above, John says this was the longest bridge in the state but burned sometime between 1948 and 1949 during the planning of Lake Lanier. He places the bridge between Hall and Forsyth Counties over the Chestatee River which joins up with Chattahoochee River near present day Keith Bridge Road.

This is a photograph from the FINISH of the SSE Airticity Dublin Marathon which was held in Dublin City, Ireland on Monday October 27th 2014 at 09:00. This was the 35th year of the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon, which is run through the historic Georgian streets of Dublin, Ireland's largest and capital city. This photograph was taken in Dublin City Center at Mount Street Canal Bridge which is just before the 26 mile mark on Mount Street.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

Two buildings on Woodward Avenue present contrasting facades. They are contributing buildings to the Lower Woodward Avenue Historic District, recognized by the City of Detroit and the National Register of Historic Places.
At left is the Valpey Building (1896 by Donaldson and Meier). The original signature tenant was L.N. Valpey & Co. Reliable Footware. At right, in glazed white terra cotta, is the former Frank & Seder Building, built in 1921. Frank & Seder had locations in Detroit, Philadelphia and Pittsburg and sold specialty clothing for men and women. In 1921 both buildings, as well as the next building north, were used by Frank & Seder.

City Palace, Udaipur, is a palace complex in Udaipur, in the Indian state Rajasthan. It was built over a period of nearly 400 years being contributed by several kings of the dynasty, starting by the Maharana Udai Singh as the capital of the Sisodia Rajput clan in 1559, after he moved from Chittor. It is located on the east bank of the Lake Pichola and has several palaces built within its complex. Udaipur was the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar in the Rajputana Agency and its last capital.[1][2][3][4][5]
The City Palace in Udaipur was built in a flamboyant style and is considered the largest of its type in Rajasthan, a fusion of the Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles, and was built on a hill top that gives a panoramic view of the city and its surrounding, including several historic monuments such as the Lake Palace in Lake Pichola, the Jag Mandir on another island in the lake, the Jagdish Temple close to the palace, the Monsoon Palace on top of an overlooking hillock nearby and the Neemach Mata temple.
With the aim to contribute to the improvement of IELTS test preparation Vietnam, the British Council IELTS have been organising teacher training workshops in Vietnam for the past 8 years. The brick, two-story Colonial Revival style building is one of twelve barracks or domiciliary buildings built in 1885. The buildings were originally referred to as barracks. The buildings, with central blocks and flanking wings are fronted with wood porches and capped with hip roofs. They were patterned after military barracks built during the period, and they sat a tone for a military style existence and discipline. In 2021, the domiciliary was still housing veterans.
The Western Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The domiciliary is a contributing property. The facility is designated a National Historic Landmark District.

Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre with strong, rhythmic undertones and is often accompanied with a similarly impassioned style of dance characterized by its powerful yet graceful execution, as well as its intricate hand and footwork. Flamenco embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition. Although considered part of the culture of Spain in general, flamenco actually originates from one region: Andalusia. However, other areas, mainly Extremadura and Murcia, have contributed to the development of several flamenco musical forms, and a great number of renowned flamenco artists have been born in other territories of the state. The roots of flamenco are not precisely known, but it is generally acknowledged that flamenco grew out of the unique interplay of native Arabic, Andalusian, Islamic, Sephardic, and Gypsy cultures that existed in Andalusia prior to and after the Reconquest. Latin American and especially Cuban influences have also been important in shaping several flamenco musical forms.
Once the seeds of flamenco were planted in Andalusia, it grew as a separate subculture, first centered in the provinces of Seville, Cádiz and part of Málaga—the area known as Baja Andalucía (Lower Andalusia)—but soon spreading to the rest of Andalusia, incorporating and transforming local folk music forms. As the popularity of flamenco extended to other areas, other local Spanish musical traditions (e.g. the Castilian traditional music) would also influence, and be influenced by, the traditional flamenco styles.

Common Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus)
The chirping of grasshoppers is a familiar sound from Irish meadows and roadside verges during the summer months. Undoubtedly contributing its song to this chorus is the Common Field Grasshopper, which is one of our most common and widespread grasshopper species. It is found throughout Ireland, although it does becomes scarcer in the far north.
Common field grasshoppers belong to an order of insects called the Orthoptera which includes grasshoppers, crickets and locusts. They are fairly large grasshoppers, typically between 18-24 mm (c. 0.7-1 inch) long, and while they are generally considered to be a brown grasshoppers, they come in a bewildering array of colours that include greens, browns and purples; generally with variable degrees of black, brown or grey mottled markings.
Like all grasshoppers common field grasshoppers posses a pair of powerful hind legs that allow them to jump high into the air; long, toughened fore-wings that serve to protect the delicate hind-wings beneath; and powerful biting mouth parts. In this species the fore-wings show a distinct bulge at the base. They also often have an orange tinge at the tip of their abdomen, although this is not always present.
The variability in colouration and markings means that accurate identification of grasshopper species in the field requires careful examination of the specific shape and markings of particular body parts. The common field grasshopper, for example, has an inflected and angular pronotum (the frontmost section of the animal’s thorax) with black, wedge-shaped markings that don’t reach all the way to the back edge. It also has relatively few “stridulatory” pegs on its hind legs (the protrusions that, when rubbed against the toughened veins of the forewings, allow the grasshopper to produce its characteristic song).
Common field grasshoppers are strong fliers that are particularly active in warm weather. They prefer dry, grassy habitats, and are often common on roadside verges, parkland and waste ground. On warm days it can often be seen sunning itself in the open on walls, patches of bare earth or on paths. The familiar song consists of a series of chirps, each around half a second long. Males often chirp at each other in turn, and this sonic rivalry is characteristic of the species. During courtship they also produce a “ticking” sound.
During the summer female grasshoppers lay a large egg pod containing up to 15 eggs just below the surface of dry ground, or sometimes inside anthills. There they will stay over winter before hatching the following May. Grasshoppers go through a development cycle known as “incomplete metamorphosis”, in which larval stages of the insect – termed “nymphs” – tend to resemble miniature, wingless versions of the adults. These nymphs go through a series of moults before they finally reach their winged, sexually mature adult form, usually sometime in June.
Once they have mated and laid their eggs, the adults, which are unable to survive the winter, will ultimately perish. However, the common field grasshoppers is better able to survive cold conditions than many other grasshopper species. It’s not unheard of for them to survive into December before they finally succumb to the inclement weather.
Again more rain contributed to another nice image. As I enjoyed a fine breakfast rain lashed against the windows and I felt pleased that for once I was warm and dry. As I savoured my coffee I noticed the double rainbow start to form outside, instinct took over and I found myself grabbing my camera and racing outside.
Getting soaked (yet again) was a minor inconvenience as I am delighted with the result of my interrupted breakfast.

Kouchani Art Society has trained more then 400 artists in drawing, painting, sculpture, and calligraphy. There are branches and representatives of the Kouchani Art Society in different countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Iran, United States, England, France, and Canada. Since 2002, The Kouchani Art Society has participated in many Arts Contests around the world and has won numerous top positions. In addition, the Kouchani Arts Society has held many exhibitions around the world. In Canada, we have held and participated in 9 exhibitions in different cities such as Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal.

The Rahime family of artists includes Hussain and Zakria who are father and son, respectively. The families are now Canadian citizens who came to Canada four years ago from Hazaristan, Afghanistan. During the civil war, they left Kabul City and later settled in Hazara Town, Quetta, Pakistan before coming to Canada as refugees. The Rahime family live in Thorncliff Park and Zakria Rahime is now a 17 year old student at Marc Garneau Collegiate. They say, “it is very hard to talk about Afghanistan because we don't have good memories about our country. From the day we were born till today, we don't remember much other then inequality, racism, poverty, genocide, illiteracy, and war.”

Heron Gibran is a bit of an enigma. A true renaissance man. It hardly seems fair to call him a rapper. The word isn’t large enough. Does not encapsulate him. If you talked to him for more than five minutes about hip-hip, the state of affairs in the music industry, politics, religion, whatever…you’d understand. Rapper does not do him justice.
While he considers himself a Washingtonian, Heron was actually born in the Bronx, New York. Around the same time he was born, a new street culture was emerging. As he grew, hip-hop grew. As hip-hop expanded, traveled, became more sophisticated, international…so did he. Lately, he has been working closely with long-time friend and colleague, Asheru (creator of the Boondocks theme song). Together they have performed all over the nation’s capital. Along with producer/emcee Aychell, they formed the hip-hop super-group, Black Lincolns, and released the breakthrough single “The Hustle”. Heron has also contributed music to the forthcoming Boondocks soundtrack.
Over the years he has released several solo projects, the most recent being The Amnezia Haze EP. This underground classic gem is an eclectic collection of tracks, some of which were recorded overseas in Amsterdam. It also features “By Any Means” and “Dance With Me”, both produced by DJ Khalil of California’s Self-Scientific, who has also produced for The Game and Jay-Z. So…between globe-trotting and helping to vitalize the DC hip hop scene and teaching graphic design to inner-city children with special needs, Heron Gibran simply defies categorization. He is anomaly in a musical landscape where simplicity rules. But he’s creating his own rules, and making coverts one handful at a time along the way.

"If you buy the best and it's hand-cut (the way it should be), it can reach 18 eur/100 gm. Many people buy the whole ham and cut it themselves at home (like me). A good ham will cost you 250-300 eur for 7-8 kg but you may get only 2-3 kg of meat, the rest is bones and fat. (We are talking about the good hams. You can get a decent one for 100-150 eur."

Photo and information contributed by Richard Lemmers. John was his first cousin several times removed, being the nephew of his great great grandfather Gregory Shirk.
Here is that photo of John P. Shirk's grave in the East Lenora Cemetery, Lenora, Kansas. He was a private in Company F, 75th Indiana Infantry. September 19, 1863, he was wounded in the left thigh at Chickamauga. He had a brother named George who had served in the same company but had died on board a hospital train at Gallatin, Tennessee, in early 1863. After the war John married Sarah Regester who was the sister of a fallen comrade from the same company, Seth Regester. John was a farmer from Pennville in Jay County, Indiana. Kansas. He named one of his children Abraham Lincoln Shirk. The marker is incorrect as it says 75th "U.S." Infantry instead of "Indiana" Infantry. Of course the regular U.S. Army did not have that many infantry regiments in the Civil War. I took the attached photo last month.
On Camp Casey in Dongducheon July 4, Area I holds an Independence Day celebration and Salute to the Nation Ceremony that featured fireworks, live music, standup comedy, hot dogs, hamburgers and other traditional American fare; face painting, kite flying, eating contests, a petting zoo and numerous other attractions; as well as music performed by the 2nd Infantry Division Band and the 51st Republic of Korea Army Band, and a 51-gun salute by Battery C, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment. The battery also dazzled the audience as it fired its 75 mm howitzers on cue during the playing of the finale to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Also during the ceremony, Col. Jack Haefner, Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I, presented Maj. Gen. Theodore "Ted" Martin, Commanding General, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-US Combined Division, with a mock check representing the amount of money contributed by members of the Area I community to Army Emergency Relief, a sum that totaled $144,389.38. Faith leaders and concerned citizens gathered outside the Suffolk House of Corrections to publicly ask ICE officials to release Francisco Rodriguez, an MIT janitor whose son Josué Mateo Rodriguez was born on Monday evening in an emergency delivery. ICE officials offered no response to a request by Mr. Rodriguezâs lawyers for his 24-hour release from detention as his wife underwent labor.
ICE detained Mr. Rodriguez at his last check-in on July 13, despite his compliance with their requests. The federal government was prevented from deporting him by stays issued on July 14 by the Massachusetts District Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Francisco Rodriguez has lived in the U.S. since 2006. He has lived in the greater Boston area for 10 years, specifically in Chelsea for the last 6 years. He is the father of two American citizen children, 10-year-old Mellanie and a 5-year-old Jessica, with a third child on the way next month. For the past five years, he has been a janitor at MIT. In addition, he runs his own carpet cleaning company. He is a member of his childrenâs school parent committee, of the community organization Chelsea Collaborative, of the Church Tabernaculo biblico seguidores de Jesus, and a union member of 32BJ SEIU (Service Employees International Union) at MIT. Mr. Rodriguez has no criminal record, pays his taxes, and contributes to his community, church, childrenâs school and workplace.
When Mr. Rodriguez arrived to the country, he applied for asylum in 2007. He was denied asylum in December of 2009, and his appeal was denied in July of 2011. He was later granted prosecutorial discretion and has received a Stay of Removal every year since that time. However this past month, when Francisco applied for a Stay, it was denied. If ICE grants Mr. Rodriguez a Stay of Removal, he can continue to work, take care of his family, and contribute to our community. In addition, next year Mr. Rodriguezâs mother, who is a legal permanent resident, will become a citizen. Soon afterwards, a pathway to residency will open for Francisco when his mother files a petition on his behalf.
