The Uraidla Institute was established under the name of the Mount Lofty Institute in 1861, and was held in the Mount Lofty Bible Christian Church until the erection of the public building at Uraidla in 1870 when the Institute was transferred to the school, this being considerably more central. In the year 1877 the name was changed to that of Uraidla Institute. During the whole of this time the Institute had not ceased to exist, and from the first it had been recognised by the South Australian Institute and supplied with boxes of books, Acts of Parliament, Blue Books, Parliamentary debates, &c.

On Tuesday afternoon, April 15, the foundation stone of the new Uraidla Institute was laid by Mrs. Edmund Wilcox in the presence of between 100 and 200 spectators. The building occupies a prominent situation in the centre of the town, on the slope of the hill. The main hall is in size 60 by 40 feet, and 20 feet in height. It is lighted by four windows on each side, and at the further end there is a proscenium 15 feet in width with a commodious stage behind. At the rear of the hall are two small rooms, while in the front portion, which will be erected as soon as funds are available, and is to consist of two storeys, with four more rooms, intended for use as library, committee, and lodge rooms.
The architect is Mr. Joshua Hodgson, and the contractor Mr. J. Milne, of Mount Barker, the cost being £1,200, and the time allowed for completion about three months from the present date.
The block of ground upon which the institute is being erected is the gift of Mr. John Cutting, and measures 150 links in frontage by 200 in depth.
In 1861 the Uraidla Institute was first created, and in 1870 it was removed to the schoolroom of the town, and although they had been obliged to content themselves with this accommodation up to the present time, they had constantly felt the necessity of a larger building, especially when public meetings were held

Tuesday was a gala day at Uraidla, it being the occasion of the opening of the local institute. Work was suspended in the neighbourhood at midday, and at 3 o'clock about 300 persons had assembled to take part in the ceremony.
Mr. Rees thanked the committee for the honour conferred upon him, and after apologising for the absence of the Minister of Education (Hon. Mr. Cockburn), whose parliamentary duties prevented his attendance, threw back the doors, and declared the institute open.
A tea was afterwards held, and in the evening a largely attended concert and a ball were given.

The trailers were manufactured in our Pitlane branch (bmiPL) located in Brierley Hill.
Both trailers were fitted with on board weighing system, remote controlled double flip nets and ejector blade.

since we live in a 600 sq ft house with two bedrooms, we've been talking for a while about putting on an addition. over the last two or three years we've tossed around ideas and plans here and there, and it all finally came together this month. we're adding on a 375 sq ft space, which will include a 10 x 15 livingroom (kinda weird spacing, but we'll make it work) and a 15 x 15 master bedroom with a big closet. we are SUPER pumped, and even more pumped that (a) the weather is cooperating, which means that (b) the contractor is starting ahead of schedule. (who's ever heard of such a wacko thing??)
anyway, they came this morning and dug a trench for the foundation footings (and also tore down some trees and shrubs that we HATE). you can see a sorta decent shot of the hole in the comments.
