Not sure what this is, but it came from the estate of a U.S. World War II veteran, who had two Japanese rifles and what is very definitely a Japanese Katana sword.
It resembles all manner of Japanese police, cavalry and other swords, but the radically swept handle and "knuckle" no one seems to recognize.

Not sure what this is, but it came from the estate of a U.S. World War II veteran, who had two Japanese rifles and what is very definitely a Japanese Katana sword.
This is a very central European blade, probably made there, but with a number of Japanese-style features.
The scabbard, in fact, is absolutely identical to a couple of Prussian Imperial cavalry sabers of the period 1866-72. However, this version has been modified to accept a Japanese style latch, which has fallen off this unit.
It resembles all manner of Japanese police, cavalry and other swords, but the radically swept handle and "knuckle" no one seems to recognize.

So it isn't really apparent from this photo - but let me describe to you the outfit of this fella.
- Gray pinstripe pants (pretty normal/conservative)
- White shirt with vertical rainbow stripes (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue & Violet)
- Black tie with chunky dashed diagonal stripes of red & green
- Cuff links featuring some kind of amethyst geode, with an artsy gold setting (pretty large for cuff links - I've seen smaller engagement rings)
And finally for personal details, a medic alert bracelet and he had an insulin pump (you could see the tube going from under his shirt to his front left pocket).
It was quite the sight. I am disappointed that this photo makes it look like a very normal outfit.

“See now you’re touching the heart… All foods you know, that’s the best way to answer that. I can’t put food in a class like, as long as I like, what I’m eating, I don’t care what country it’s from, where it’s from. But if you’re asking a more specific loved meat, I would say, chicken boy straight *laughs out loud*, straight chicken, can’t go wrong with chicken. But ah then again there’s beef as well in it, you can always hit up the steak. See look that’s a difficult one bruv. Ooh hold on, it’s in between the two, those are the main two meats I eat so obviously I can’t, but you know what it’s going to have to be chicken man, because when you think about it I eat more chicken then I eat beef so, chicken init.”
