(Continuation of Story)
My final destination was Hikkaduwa. The tiny little village had become a large world famous destination. The water was still crystal clear and calm. Small waves lapped at the few rocks that lined the seashore. A few palm trees swayed in the balmy breeze. However, to see tropical jungles, one had to go to the very south of the island
I found myself still drawn to white sand beaches, the sun and the sparking blue green waters of the Indian Ocean. I renewed my love of the Indian Ocean and for years after, the body of water was the focus of my travel plans whether by land or by sea. In retrospect, however, another wide- reaching theme to all of my travels was still hidden from my consciousness.
(This is a continuation of a chronological sampling of my marathon "last" journey in my Sportsmobile, showing a few shots taken along the way.) After leaving the bird refuge in Utah my plan was to drive through Grand Teton and spend a couple of days in Yellowstone. I camped somewhere along the way arriving at the Tetons before the sun came up. I stopped at Oxbow Bend and caught this sunrise before attempting to enter the eastern entrance of Yellowstone. The entrance was open but the road was closed further ahead. I doubled back to Jackson and took Teton Pass, Highway 22 from Wilson. It was a beautiful drive and I caught a young male moose before getting to highway 22. It's such beautiful country out there just driving through it is worthwhile.

Continuation of Napier's Marine Parade:
The Veronica Sun Bay Originally erected in 1934 to commemorate the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3rd February 1931. This memorial is named in honour of HMS Veronica and the outstanding service given by her officers and crew at the time of the disaster .Rebuilding of the Sun Bay was accomplished through the initiative and leadership of the Rotary Club of Napier and contributions from the citizens of Hawke's Bay and the Napier City Council. This plaque was unveiled at the dedication of the rebuilt memorial. It took place on the Sixtieth Anniversary of the earthquake - 3rd February 1991.The bell of HMS Veronica is held at Hawke's Bay Museum, and rung at New Year
HMS Veronica assisted survivors in the aftermath of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake in New Zealand. Having berthed in Port Ahuriri only three hours before the earthquake, she radioed Auckland for help, which was provided by the cruisers Dunedin and Diomede. She was subsequently docked for inspection for possible bottom damage as the seabed had risen up under her.
A memorial to HMS Veronica, the Veronica Sunbay (initially called the Veronica Sun Bay), was built in 1934 and dedicated in 1937 on Napier's Marine Parade, commemorating its efforts after the city's earthquake.

A continuation of the previous two days. Yesterday, at 4:30 PM the Virginia was launched into the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine. Construction began in 2011 and was financed by donations and volunteers. This photo was taken moments after the slings used to move it from land to water were pulled up. In this photo she is being moved to here permanent mooring spot by a tugboat . There were hundreds of people there including many on a nice collection of small boats to enjoy and celebrate this occasion. The weather was overcast but seasonally warm. Speaking for myself, I cannot imagine what it must have been like to cross the Atlantic in a ship this size.

RHS Hyde Hall, Rettendon, Essex
Over many years I have posted images taken at RHS Hyde Hall and this is a continuation of a series called ‘A Day in the Life’. As the title suggests I’m posting what I think are the best photographs taken on that particular day. So these are images all taken before 2014 and completes the series to that date.

This particular Ferrari 250 GTO has proved to be a little bit of a head scratch in terms of trying to work out its authenticity and provenance.
The car itself is wearing the plate "91553 MO" that hints that the car is chassis 4399GT, originally sold to Ronnie Hoare in 1963 and raced by Graham Hill at the 1963 Tourist Trophy at Goodwood, placing 1st overall.
At this point it would all seem straight forward and standard fare in terms of research. However, digging a little deeper, it turns out that 4399GT is the rebodied 250/64 owned and raced by the Bamford family, meaning that this car appears to be a continuation replica using the same "91553 MO" plate that can be seen on the Bamford owned car.
While doing some research, I came across this shot of the car from that 63 race at Goodwood, with the same livery as seen here, which again points to the car being built as a copy of the original 63 car.
If anyone has further information on this car or can confirm or refute the information I have, it would be appreciated so i can record a more accurate description.
