(Continuation of story)
This is the last of the sunset pictures taken by the Chinese fishing nets. To read the whole story one can go back to the beginning picture entitle "Cracks of Time."
it is not a remarkable story, but a traveller's story. One of going to a dream location for pictures, finally realized because of thoughtful travel planners and a kind and dedicated boat crew, A story that shows that a little old clunker of a boat may just be better than a modern one designed for tourists for experiencing what you have dreamed of seeing.
Hopefully this image depicts the bittersweet mood I felt when we pulled away from the nets and chugged back to the pier.
(continuation of strory)
We are now back to the sunset boat ride and to the tree that fascinated the egrets so much.
The sun seems to be going down quite fast now and there are no fishing nets in sight. I almost forgot this fact when I saw this flock of egrets. In reality, it was merely a bunch of birds flying around, but add the back lighting and the moment becomes a fantasy.
(continuation of story)
My boat is still hugging the shore of the Arabian Sea and suddenly I become distracted. Very distracted. Egrets have decided to flock to several trees and have not been scared away by the noise of the motor of the boat.
We do not stop as the crew realizes I have a mission, but I jump up from the plastic chair where I was resting and leap to the side of the boat, camera in hand, to make certain I capture as much of the scene as possible.
I deliberately left the branches of the other trees in this picture. as a slight border. I realize some would crop it but I have done that with several of my other shots of the egrets.
(continuation of story)
Leaving the egrets behind as they frolic in the trees, my boat continues to hug the coast line of the Arabian Sea. We wind around a bend and then in the near distance the fishing nets appear.
I had not been able to see this group of nets since my journey began. They may have been slightly hidden in a cove. The sun is getting lower in the sky. After this shot, it begins to align with the nets so I can take sunset shots. The two crew members knew exactly what they were doing and helped me fulfill a travel dream.
(continuation of story)
As I was clinging on to the pole on the boat that was bobbing up and down and trying to hold my camera as still as possible, the egrets were calmly enjoying the sunset from a great vantage point.
Hope, I'm not boring you too much with these shots. Thanks for staying with me. I went such a long distance to enjoy these moments and I don't even fish. The stages of a sunset are always a thrill for me to see and I hope they are for you as well.

I am breaking my own rule of adding too many images on the same theme. When I decided to tell a story about the several hours I spent around the Kochi Chinese fishing nets, it just came out this way.
I didn't really know what to expect when the travel company added this excursion. I knew from briefly seeing the nets before that they would be fun to photograph. The crew of the boat helped to make it a great productive time. Here is another take of the nets and the sunset.

Watching the sunset through the eyes of the egrets and through the magic of the billowing magical nets, I took many shots. This is one where the sun is framed by the nets. When I got home, it was great fun to make designs out of the nets
I must say that this experience was far more spectacular than I had hoped for. The crew was thrilled for me because the sun cooperated and was not clouded over. They said I was lucky1

So my clunky blue wooden boat chugged along, around the harbour of Kochi. I have to admit I did say several times, "Will we see the fishing nets at sunset?" The crew seemed so nonchalant and that worried me. I hoped that they really knew how important it was to me to photograph the nets at sundown.
I tried to enjoy other moments of the cruise and waved to a boatload of teenagers who came by on their excursion. Then came an area filled with egrets. I just kept shooting as we went by. The area produced some nice abstracts.
(Continuation of story)
Thought that I would add another picture of the egrets. This image was cropped a great deal and changed to B&W. Then I added an effect from Aviary. Hope you like it. Back to the fishing nets tomorrow.
A continuation shot from my post yesterday. This is how the sand looked after being walked on. A heavy bokeh shot for sure, but it is Wednesday, so thought what the heck why not!
Will be around throughout the day to visit with everyone!
Thanks
(Continuation of story)
Again I hope you are not tiring of the sunset pictures. Sometimes it is fun to watch the stages of a sunset when the conditions are good.
The boat, the crew and I stayed in the bay by Kochi for about 1/2 hour watching this spectacle. The effect of the sun disappearing behind the fishing nets was more than I expected. The crew had positioned their rickety old boat perfectly. Many of the Indian people have an eye for pictures. Perhaps it is due to their love of their Bollywood movies.
(continuation of story)
So as I was holding on to the post for dear life with my camera in hand, I watched the sun continue to do its magic. The crew of the boat had aligned us in a great position to take photos.
I think they had done this for other travellers as the nets have great tourist appeal. The boat was bobbing up and down in the water, but my tactic of wrapping my arms around the post seemed to be working. It is probably a technique that many others have used, but for this clumsy photography it was a great discovery.
When I returned home, I enjoyed seeing the phases of a sunset and hope you do too. I'll break up the series a couple of times to keep you from getting too bored. I do think though that each photo seems to have an unique quality.

I reached deep into my pocket for my mobile phone intending to alert the emergency services, but I frustratingly could not obtain a signal. It was at this moment I decided to leave the pier and head for the shoreline to see if a signal could be obtained from there, when, as if out of nowhere the young girl appeared more or less in the same location as where she originally entered the water. I shouted to her asking if she was alright and she turned to look in my direction where I quickly took this shot. I couldn't make myself heard above the sound of the wind and waves so I quickly made my way to the shoreline. Upon reaching her I again asked if she was OK and she replied,
"Yes thanks, you must think I'm crazy but today is the anniversary of my Grand-Fathers disappearance. He was suffering from alzheimers and living in a care home when he disappeared. He used to love coming down to the beach and swim in the sea no matter what the weather and would often sneak out of the care home to do so. One day he ventured out and never came back. It was 3 years ago today he disappeared and has never been seen since. They did find his dirty white raincoat on the shore in more or less this location and that's all I have to remember him by... and of course the memories of the happy days we shared together. I come down here each year on this day to remember him, it makes me feel a lot closer to him"
The dilemma of alerting the emergency services had passed. But, I was now faced with another one... should I show the young girl the photograph of the old man apparently watching over her as she entered the water... or... what would you have done?

I believe this is one of the six E-Type Lightweight's built by Jaguar Heritage following the exact process used back in 1963 when the original cars were built, following the same hand building techniques.
Around three quarters of the cars aluminium panels were made on site at Whitley, the remainder being outsourced to other specialised suppliers.
As the cars are built following the same methods as the originals, the continuation cars become eligible for many of the historic races now held throughout the year. While the price for one of these 6 cars is high (reportedly around the million pound mark), its substantially less than one of the original cars would cost to buy today.
As for this photo, its a slightly awkward panning angle, but I like how the sky became reflected in those magnificent curves, so thought it worth posting.

Third shot of this Corvette, which is a continuation type derivative based on the 1963 Grand Sport.
In side profile you get some idea of the size of those headlamp protectors that stick out quite a substantial way from the car, which in close racing must make life interesting.

Wanna Buy Me A Coffee?
( continuation of story )
Waiting for this sunset to arrive produced some anxiety. After all I had come thousands of miles to enjoy just a few minutes. It can be difficult when travelling to have others understand what you really want to photograph. I have had difficulties in the past, but the kind crew member kept reassuring me that there were fishing nets to see even though they were hidden from my sight.
The old wooden boat puttered along the shoreline of the Arabian Sea. I saw this area along the way that was the grounds of an older rambling hotel. The trees of the property were heavy with limbs and leaves finding their way toward the water.
Continuation of Rügen winter series. Sassnitz Lighthouse is one homeland for wind, storm and gulls. This time I seen this location completely under ice.
Enjoy!

this photo was just a nano second after my previous post. These two went at it for a bit and the poor guy in the upper left, he just wanted to stay out of the way. These Pine Siskins are the only birds I ever actually see behaving this way at the feeders, other than hummingbirds of course. Hummers are equally aggressive.
Yesterday's post in first comment box below
This is in continuation of my earlier post.It gives a closer look at the magnificent interior and beautiful carvings inside Cave number 26 in Ajanta.
This is the inside of cave number 26 in Ajanta. This is a Chaityagriha or Prayer Hall belonging to the Mahayana school of Buddhism and dating back to the 5th century A.D.The chaityagriha consists of a huge hall, side aisles and a rock cut stupa with an image of the Budhha seated on a throne. The whole chaitya is adorned with carvings from the life of the Buddha..Here you can catch a glimpse of the exquisite carvings on the pillars and roof of the main prayer hall and the statues of the Budhha adorning the side aisles of the cave.
Might be worth a look in large.
A continuation of the series… I love it when they fluff their belly feathers like this. This photo was hard to take, as the bird was somewhat backlit and I had to post myself behind a tree to be in some shade. Seen at the Loch, Central Park, New York
