Construction of the greenhouse section parallel to Lower Lake Road began in late 1896, immediately following the destruction of the original greenhouse by the fire of 1896. First constructed were the greenhouse’s show house and head house. The wing to the west was built in 1898 – 1899, through the generous funding of James Talcott. After 100 years of almost continual use, the greenhouse received much-needed renovations in the 1990s.
Today the 6,000-square-foot Talcott Greenhouse serves as a valuable teaching resource, giving academic departments, programs and centers a variety of ways to collaborate and work across disciplines.
Thank you all so much for your photographic gifts throughout the year...I am continually in awe and inspired as I see the world through your lenses - Happy Holidays, risa
I watched eagles continually being harassed by crows and osprey for hours this afternoon.
As if they didn't have enough to keep them busy with 2 eaglets in the nest. They are growing so quickly...
Species: Plectrophenax nivalis.
Fleetwood, Lancashire.
Breeds in high-alpine habitat in boulder zone of bare mountains, but also along northern rocky coasts and on open, treeless high moors and tundra. Predominantly passage and winter visitors in Britian & Ireland, mainly from Scandinavia and Greenland, but small numbers breed in Scotland. Quite confiding, but restless and mobile, continually on the move.
Many thanks to people who view or comment on my photos
An aquatic passerine bird found across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and parts of North Africa. It's easily identified by the dark brown plumage sharply contrasted by a bright white throat and breast.
These birds are unique for their ability to dive and swim underwater, using their wings to propel themselves. They typically inhabit clear, fast-flowing rivers and streams in cold environments, where they forage for aquatic insects and larvae, small fish, and even tadpoles.
Dippers require clean, oxygenated water for their prey to thrive. Their nests are large, spherical structures of moss, often located near or above the water, in crevices, under bridges, or behind waterfalls. We found a nest maybe a few inches above the flowing water. There were 3 chicks inside that both the adults were continually feeding.
The weather was overcast and slightly drizzling - making for terrible light though.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback - much appreciated.
This photo was a series of pictures of a continually developing sunset. It started out without much color but lavish and myriad of tones were forthcoming.
How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! They outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me. Psalm 139:17-18 God loves us all and continually thinks of us.

Een Volkswagenbus (uit 1954) als lift tegen de gevel. Een pneumatische pomp van Caterpillar die de voordeur opent, een zeldzame Porsche 356 als blikvanger en een showroom vol fietsen. Pon Holdings is neergestreken in Amsterdam. Het familiebedrijf, dat bij het grote publiek hoogstens de associatie met Volkswagen zal opleveren, heeft een anoniem onderkomen in Almere verruild voor de voormalige Citroënshowroom op het Stadionplein (parool.nl).

Penrose Stairs is a two-dimensional depiction of a staircase in which the stairs make four 90-degree turns as they ascend or descend yet form a continuous loop, so that a person could climb them forever and never get any higher. This is clearly impossible in three-dimensional Euclidean geometry.
In my photo I made it in “three-dimendional world”. You can see the steps continually ascend in a clockwise direction which is impossible

Salford Quays
I’ve visited Salford Quays on many occasions but never this early. The weather has been inconsistent to say the least the over the last few days... glorious sunrise Thursday, continual snow Friday morning, but the forecast was optimistic for this morning. Inspired by the recent New Brighton images of Mark Waidson, Mrs R and I headed to the Quays for a new adventure!
First point to note: there are no car parks open at this time and many of the residential car parks are CCTV monitored with security staff as we found out! However, we found a sneaky place to park but won’t mention where as I’ll probably use it again.
Second point to note: check what’s happening at the BBC... Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage playing 5-a-side football for Sport Relief on the square outside BBC MediaCity at 5:30am!
Luckily, I had already planned the shot I was after and headed towards MediaCity Bridge where this image is taken from. Partial to an early morning run, Mrs R left me and disappeared into the distance... I suspect she really went to play 5-a-side!
The way up Beinn an'Lochain, with the view North, continually in view. Follow that path, in between the Arrchochar Alps, and you end up at Ardlui, top of Loch Lomond. Luvly walk.
A short lived moment of breathtaking beauty as a granite outcrop in Patagonia's Torres del Paine catches fire, in the continual fight between light and darkness.

I saw a couple of these Buff Banded Rails at Serendip Sanctuary. They seemed to be continually on the move so it was difficult to get a sharp shot.
Grey Tel ( Anas gracilis )
Gentle little ducks that pipe continually.
Gregarious though shy of humans and prefer to gather together apart from other waterfowl.so they are obviously intelligent also.
Have quite a few Anna's hummingbirds in the garden which are continually seeking to show their authority over the various plants
KNOWN AS “THE BRANCH” in English, Grenen is a slowly lengthening strip of beach that marks the intersection of two seas which are continually forcing more sand to the surface.
Skagen is the northernmost town in Denmark, and at the top of the town is the northernmost point in Denmark, Grenen. This is where the waters between Denmark and Sweden meet. The clash of the two massive bodies of water make the area very treacherous to swim in due to powerful and unpredictable currents. However, it is one of the few places in the world where visitors can put one foot in one sea and one in the other.
Due to the constant movement of the waters, the sandy strip of land is continually (if slowly) being extended as the tides push more sand to the surface. Given enough time, it is possible that the two bodies of water will no longer be connected but instead, Denmark and Sweden will have a new land bridge.

The three-petaled spiderwort flowers are usually blue to purple, but may also be pink, white or red. They only remain open for a day (blooming in morning hours and closing at night), but the multiple flowers will continually bloom for up to four to six weeks in summer.

SU-100 crosses the 1848 built viaduct which used locally quarried ashlar bluestone to solve an engineering problem of crossing the wide valley of Starrucca Creek. The viaduct has been in continual use for more than a century and a half.

The Coyote lay down for just a minute. Being acutely aware of it's surroundings, it was continually glancing in all directions. Inevitably, it finally spotted me. This image was taken just as it stood and before it trotted off.

"Our subconcious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives." - Robert Collier.
For me the visual height of a storm precedes its arrival. It's often heralded by a slight diminution of sunlight. Not the momentary kind caused by a passing cloud. It's more of a change of tone or atmosphere. It's the kind of thing you feel as much as see with your eyes. Many a time it's that subtle shift of light that has caused me to stop whatever I'm doing and contemplate the sky. It's one of those things of which that I will never tire. The progression of sky from calm to anger. So often the most menacing clouds roll in well in advance of the actual storm. And this liminal space is generally not a solid mass, but highly textured and broken. Thick clouds intermix with thin ones, and at time even clear sky emerges. Light changes constantly from dark shadow to diffuse glow and even moments of direct sunlight. Dramatic backlighting flares up and just as suddenly vanishes. It's these continual variations that thrill me. And being able to convey the storm as an entity rather than just a monolith of darkness. Shooting in these conditions tends to be even more spontaneous than usual. This figurine of the Virgin Mary struck me as more emotive than I'd seen it before. Everything is a matter or perception, and that's a view that changes with circumstances. Maybe I hadn't seen it in quite the same light before, or with the turbulent background. Here I saw the downcast face seemingly oblivious to the gathering storm behind her. And the weathered, pitted and lichen-encrusted surface revealed the effects of the many storms that had preceded this one. And maybe the resignation that many more will follow. But in this moment a break in the clouds appeared and transformed the entire scene; ope somehow coexisting with despair.
HBM! A view that I have continually photographed over more than a decade. I started in 2012, when there was yeti no bench installed .

Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna)
A was pretty sure I heard the call of the Musk Lorikeets in the Eucalypts around the Woodville Oval when I picked Sarah up from school yesterday. When I went up to the oval today I spotted a few and also heard some Purple-crowned Lorikeets but didn't see them.
Not the greatest image as the wind was quite blustery and the branch was continually moving.
Water is in continual motion just like life it moves at different speeds and with different intensity but always moves.A new day a new chapter just like the flow of the river.
Originally established in 1750, Wade's Mill is the oldest continually operating grist mill in the Shenandoah Valley. Located near Raphine in Rockbridge County, Virginia, it is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. I stopped by the mill this past weekend and had the opportunity to see the interior as well. Information from the mill's website.

I am continually amazed at the intricate patterns on duck feathers, especially at close range.
The Giant Swallowtail butterfly, with a wingspan of about 10–16 cm (3.9–6.3 in), it is the largest butterfly in North America. It is such a large butterfly that it continually vibrates its wings while feeding at flowers so that it does not tilt the blossom.

The tide continually washed over the sand in front of me and made a new canvas for reflections as the sky changed colour every minute. This year has been hard for many of us and the thought of a fresh start tomorrow is very appealing. I hope you all stay safe, healthy and happy in 2021 and wish you the very best of luck!
As we were driving through the state of Tennessee last year (2023) I continually glanced along the roadside at the beautiful colors. But when I saw this barn, I said to my wife, "Did you see that Ku Klux Klan flag on that barn?" And when she doubted me, I had to turn around and go back to show her. It was then, upon closer inspection, I saw it was not the KKK flag but was the Tennessee state flag. And as I looked at the scene I realized it deserved a photograph.
The tough thing about shooting Black Swallowtails is that they continually flutter. And, their wings move independently - in four parts. So it's challenging to get them entirely in focus. Like their hummingbird friends, they almost never land and just sit.
This is another one from Tom's gardens yesterday - one of a pair of exquisite Eastern Black Swallowtails loving the warm sunshine and Purpletop Vervain. At least you can see the beautiful colors of this Swallowtail and Tom's wonderful plantings.
Classes have started for me again so I'm off and running until late this evening. I'll catch up with your beautiful streams then. Have a wonderful Tuesday! :)
While the herd has all but disappeared, a solo mountain goat seemed at home wandering the cliffs. He was sadly aware that none of his friends has remained behind and continually looked around for others in his herd. He was well north of the usual haunt so perhaps he had lost his bearings.
Cistern Spring and Steamboat Geyser are linked underground. During a major eruption of Steamboat, the water in Cistern Spring's pool drains a few inches or more. Normally, Cistern is a beautiful blue pool from which water continually overflows. Cistern Spring's influence expands throughout the lodgepole pine forest below. The lodgepole pine forest at the Norris Basin is in constant flux, advancing in places of diminished thermal activity and retreating in areas of increasing heat.
Happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

In glorious conditions 68002 Intrepid crosses the Ribblehead Viaduct with 6K05 Carlisle to Crewe Engineers working, the shadows were continually rolling over the viaduct as the train crossed.
This is the oldest continually operating grocery store in California. Located on the St. Helena Highway, it is a destination for wine-soaked tourists and hungry locals alike.
Happy Bench Monday from Oakville, California!
this photo represents depth of field because of the mountains that continually get farther away and the wind mills that do the same.
I am constantly drawn to the dandelions that continually grow in our lawn. It can be a challenge to get to them before they get mown over.
How often have we heard the phrase, "Stick to the path"? In this case it is a very good idea. In very wet conditions the mud here can be quite deep, and one would not want to damage plants or wildlife habitats unnecessarily.
In the warmer months of the year this long grass is the perfect place for Lowland Copperhead (Austrelaps superbus) snakes to thrive. They are often seen sunning themselves on the boardwalk. All Tasmanian snakes are venomous, but they are also relatively shy creatures and will take cover at the first sense that someone is coming. All snakes are protected species in Australia as they have been suffering from continual habitat loss.
