Another try out in the world of contemporary architecture. The Danish Kaktus Towers residential flats in Copenhagen have recently been completed and I absolutely love the lines and shapes here. After walking around several times, I found this one spot where the pointed balconies seem to be touching and I knew I had my composition. In post processing I lightened the colour of the buildings.
Marina City is a residential/commercial building complex sitting on the north bank of the Chicago River in Chicago, directly across from the Loop district. Consisting of two corncob-shaped towers (587-foot, 65-story), it occupies an entire city block on State Street. The complext also includes a saddle-shaped auditorium building, and a mid-rise hotel, all on a raised platform next to the river.
Designed by Bertrand Goldberg, Marina City was the first building in the United States to be constructed with tower cranes. It was completed in 1964 at a cost of $36 million.

Walking home just after sunset, hadn't planned to be that late so didn't bring the tripod, improvised some low-light shots sitting camera on the edge of the bridge over the canal to steady it for timer shots
Social hub area for the enormous student block at Fountainbridge, after dark. Can't resist the windows showing an illuminated interior in contrast to the dark night outside

Staircase in the Canadian Museum of History, formerly known as the Canadian Museum of Civilization. As a museum of human history, the museum collects, studies, preserves and presents natural objects and artifacts that illuminate the human history of Canada and its cultural diversity. The museum was designed by Aboriginal architect Douglas Cardinal.
The cantelivered levels of the Curatorial Wing are said to represent the outcropping bedrock of the Canadian Shield.
Looking east this evening, along the Union Canal at Fountainbridge. This area has changed massively in the last twenty years - on the left would have been part of the massive Scottish & Newcastle Brewery which covered several blocks of the area. Since it relocated those blocks have been redeveloped - the last couple, just on the left of this image, are now the final areas to be rebuilt.
Straight ahead is the historic Leamington Lift Bridge, and beyond that Lochrin Basin, where the canal terminate, surrounded by new buildings that have sprung up alongside the regeneration of the old waterways.

As much as I like the original of this shot of Battersea Power Station I thought it a shame that I could only include one chimney from that viewpoint. Problem solved......
This is my first upload from a 'Grays of Westminster' / Nikon organised 'Architectural workshop' that I was lucky enough to take part in back in May.

From WIkipedia : "WilkinsonEyre was appointed in 2013 to carry out the restoration of the Grade II* listed Power Station. Work commenced in 2013 and plans included the restoration of the art deco structure internally and externally, reconstruction of the chimneys, and refurbishment of the historic cranes and jetty as a new river taxi stop. Restoration work on the power station's chimneys was completed in 2017. In 2019, the jetty in front of the power station opened to the public for the first time in its history. Retail brands inside the power station include BOSS, Jo Malone London, Uniqlo, Mac Cosmetics, Space NK, Watches of Switzerland and many more. In May 2021, the first residents moved into their new homes at the power station. As part of the development, a 200-seat theatre, the Turbine Theatre, was established in railway arches under the Grosvenor Bridge in September 2019.
In October 2013, Frank Gehry was appointed joint architect with Foster + Partners to design "Phase 3" of the scheme, which will provide "the gateway to the entire development and the new Northern line extension"."

CapitaSpring Tower, Downtown Singapore. Architect: Bjarke Ingels Group + Carlo Ratti Associati.
280m (51 levels) office tower with sky gardens at midpoint and top.
Walking down from work, paused on the old arched, stone bridge over the Union Canal at Fountainbridge to enjoy the last moments of daylight, the colours and clouds reflecting in the waters as day faded into night.
Now we're into early March, it's getting darker a little later each day - couple of weeks ago it was just dark by the time we left work, now we leave as the sun is setting. Quick snaps with the phone on the way home.

I've photographed Battersea Power Station many times since it re-opened but somehow never spotted these shapes..... This is quite similar to a shot I uploaded recently except the previous shot only included one of the iconic chimneys. Not sure which version I prefer as this shot is a bit less of a dramatic composition.
