Municipal Library in Stuttgart, Germany. Often depicted, and difficult to do differently. This is another attempt to do the magnificance of the architecture a smidgen of justice. IMO this beautiful "square block" design by To Eun Young Yi is the antithesis of the brutalist modern architecture of the 1950-1970's, and in its lightness and openness makes me think of gothic cathedrals (not really any idea why, just does.). Have to go back at night to photograph the outside some day.
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Learning Hub. Design: Thomas Heatherwick.
The building has been designed as a cluster of 12 tapered towers that surround an atrium. The approach was to combine learning spaces with social spaces, balconies and gardens to encourage informal interaction. The facade has been created by curved pre-cast concrete panels. The building is naturally ventilated. Some people have referent the pods as 'dim sum' baskets, others referred to the towers as 'turnips"

ciudad de las artes y las ciencias, valencia.
he walked with purpose, yet surrounded by endless space.
the lines led him forward, but to where?
perhaps he didn’t know.
perhaps it didn’t matter.
the city of arts and sciences, valencia. a place where architecture becomes art and light dances on water. amidst the bold geometry and mirrored surfaces, a mother walks with her child. her red stroller, a defiant splash of color, speaks of humanity in a world of lines and shadows.
The Lord isn’t slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.

Walking home just after sunset, hadn't planned to be that late so didn't bring the tripod, improvised some low-light shots sitting camera on the edge of the bridge over the canal to steady it for timer shots
Preparing our visit to Singapore, I stumbled upon the amazing view inside the Pan Pacific hotel. And although we weren't guests in the hotel a hotel-guard was kind enough to show me around the building. He even took me up the elevator zo I was able to shoot this stunning vertigo-image of the 38th floor.

This is one of the oddest buildings I have photographed. Interesting from all angles. This image is shot from the courtyard overlooking the water.

The Gallery - created in 1880 - is now housed in a glass and granite building designed by architect Moshe Safdie. It opened in this Sussex Drive location in 1988. Meandering through its high-ceilinged rooms and between great granite columns, you feel a bit like you're wandering in a stylized temple built to honor modernity.
from the dark tunnel of the station, a lone figure climbs toward the shimmering lattice above, each step pulling him further from shadow into the fractured glow of the city’s spine.

Not actually from the London Flickr Photowalk around Shadwell and Wapping back in February but taken about twenty minutes afterwards as I continued walking along the river as darkness fell.
I managed to take a few dark and moody shots of London including this view towards the Shard skyscraper, with what I think is a rather fancy hotel filling the righthand side of the frame. I really liked the contrast between the warm lighting and the cold tones of the blue hour.

From Wikipedia "The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-story skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London, that forms part of the Shard Quarter development. Standing 309.7 metres (1,016 ft) high, the Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, the tallest building in the European Union, the fifth-tallest building in Europe and the 96th-tallest building in the world. It is also the second-tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom, after the concrete tower of the Emley Moor transmitting station. It replaced Southwark Towers, a 24-story office block built on the site in 1975.
The Shard's construction began in March 2009; it was topped out on 30 March 2012 and inaugurated on 5 July 2012. Practical completion was achieved in November 2012. The tower's privately operated observation deck, The View from The Shard, was opened to the public on 1 February 2013.The glass-clad pyramidal tower has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor, at a height of 244 metres (801 ft). The Shard was developed by Sellar Property Group on behalf of LBQ Ltd and is jointly owned by Sellar Property (5%) and the State of Qatar (95%) The Shard is managed by Real Estate Management (UK) Limited on behalf of the owners."
