Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen
Rotterdam (Netherlands)
It is the first building in the world that makes a museum’s entire collection public while also providing behind-the-scenes glimpses of how a museum works. Only eight percent of the collection could be displayed in the museum building, because the majority of the works were stored in facilities that were not accessible to the public. In the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen you can see the entire collection, arranged not by period or art movement but based on the objects’ climate requirements.
Its shape form resembles a giant flower pot. The architects chose this design to minimize the building's footprint, and the rooftop garden with trees continue the existing museum park on top of the building. The mirrored facade reflect the park and the city, creating a collective and integrated element within the urban landscape.

For a very long time I wanted to visit Singapore. One of the reasons was the blue hour view of the city-front at the marina bay. There are the iconic buildings and structures like the Marina bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum and the Helix bridge. That's what I wanted.... Well here you are!
Enjoy!

National Museum of Qatar by architect Jean Nouvel. View from the courtyard. The building's shape resembles a "desert rose", a type of crystal found in Qatar.
This is part of series of photographs of the suitcase leading into Caixa Forum Madrid. Originally, I had envisioned the series as a set of monochrome images. However, when I first processed them I was so pleased with the colour versions that I decided that the monochrome versions could wait. All images of the Caixa Forum staircases, both colour and monochrome, are available here Caixa Forum Madrid.
The 'Oxford Photographers' Artweeks 2016 Group Exhibition at the Mathematical Institute is now open to the public so here's another from my selection of eight images. Obviously I'd rather you went to see the prints in person if you can but for those that can't make it along here's another of my square format architectural images on display.
This reflection shot was taken at La Defense in Paris, a place I can highly recommend if you like Architectural photography.
More details of the Exhibition here for those in the Oxford area : www.facebook.com/events/1042876822435988/
The Exhibition features a wide range of different photographic genres from myself and ten other talented local photographers. There should be something for everyone.......

During our brief visit to Kristiansand I couldn't miss this modern building. The Kilden Performing Arts Centre is situated near the harbour and stands out because of the odd form and use of building-materials.
Enjoy!

When I was a student at Beloit College and majoring in geology, I did not have anything close to the facilities now enjoyed there by science students.
These are the buildings,in front of which, you saw the sculpture in my previous shot ..Rather modern, aren't they ?
Founded in 1897 by art historian George Fisk Comfort (co-founder of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City), the Everson has outgrown a number of facilities. This building was designed by I. M. Pei, and was opened in 1968. Both inside and out it is regarded as a work of art in its own right.

I'm really fond of the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. In my humble opinion, he made some of the nicest designs lately. Okay, all his projects are exorbitant expensive. But when I got aware that he finished the train station in the small town of Mons, I needed to see it for myself.
And I liked it! I hope you do too....
