I have been wanting to photograph the fog at sunrise for the last few weeks and finally the timing worked out for me.
Fog and mist is a landscape photography dream as it completely changes the landscape and environment you are in. What can normally be flat and uninspiring landscapes are often transformed into ethereal worlds and dreamscapes where detail is lost and feeling and imagination takes over.
My recent visit to Pirton Pool allowed me to capture some great images as the fog enveloped and consumed the grand landscape allowing me to produce a series of images with atmosphere and meaning with much more ease.

Sassnitz – "Kurmuschel" by Ulrich Müther
The music pavilion "Kurmuschel", a shell-shaped projecting half roof for open-air events, dates from 1987 and was renovated in 2018.
The bold shell buildings of the engineer and building contractor Ulrich Müther (1934 to 2007) are among the outstanding cultural legacies of the GDR. Spectacular buildings such as the island paradise in Baabe (1966), the Baltic Sea pearl in Glowe (1968) or the Tea Pot in Warnemünde (1968) embodied progress and unconditional modernity in the 1960s. Their design was connected with the works of the Spanish-Mexican-American architect Félix Candela and the architect Herbert Müller from Halle (Germany), who already experimented with hyperbolic concrete paraboloid bowls in the 1950s. The production of Müthers concrete shells, which were only a few centimetres thin, was time-consuming but material-saving, and therefore corresponded to the economic conditions of the GDR. The shell structures quickly became an export good, which Müther also designed in Libya, Jordan, Kuwait, Poland, Cuba and Finland.

The exhibit Empty Minds, represented a series of characters, the empty minds, with transparent heads and wheeled feet. They all had empty minds, but some of them might have some idea. If this happened a lightbulb appeared in their empty minds ... but, the law forced them to go to the machine to extract ideas.
So Empty minds do absurd things, but they are not very aware.
This sculpture represents a character with bags full of shoes, which in reality he does not need since he is supposed to move through a wheel.

Last century on our farm in southwestern Minnesota my dad kept just enough cows around to milk twice a day to annoy us boys but also to provide milk for 8 kids and the many bowls of cereal consumed morning, noon and night. We ate so much cereal my parents used to buy Wheaties in a large cardboard box containing 24 large family-sized packages. Much to my delight as a seven year old in 1953, General Mills came up with the bright idea of gluing miniature state license plates to the outside of the boxes for youngsters of all ages to collect.
Though our family was pretty peaceful it always caused a stir in our tribe when someone would forget to put the milk away after using it and a few hours later when the next sibling went to pour milk on their cereal they found it had gone sour. Serious dairy farmers had attached buildings like the one outside this barn that contained cooled stainless steel milk tanks that kept the milk fresh.

A 'frituur' (or 'frietkot') is an eating place where mainly fries are sold and consumed. They are usually located along main roads and in town and village squares and can take the form of restaurants with table service, to a stall or even a converted van or caravan offering only takeaway meals at the side of the road.
The 'frietkot' culture is thoroughly Belgian. Every year 5 million tons of potatoes are grown in our (small) country and processed at some 5,000 locations.

i'll get through an entire day without thinking about you,
then all at once it'll hit me,
an overwhelming and consuming emptiness takes hold
i know exactly why,
but i can't admit it
Well considering i was out with a couple of close friends last night where one to many drinks were consumed, i reluctantly peeled my eyes open expecting a huge hangover! To my amazement i was absolutely bouncing. So i headed on out with no plan whatsoever of where i wanted an image from. I ended up a little further south than I would usually go but it was definitely worth the drive. Probably the most productive morning of photography ive had in a long time.
Heres an image taken from the side of the road along kirkstone pass on route to Windermere.
Jewel is actually a doll of a model, but for a split second she gave me a pose (above) I couldn't resist turning into a scene from a horror movie.
